Ricky & Cilla had a spat in the local newspaper a few years ago, as Cilla said Ricky wasn't a true Scouser, because Ricky was born in Blackpool, think his parents were war evacuees, however Ricky has lived in Liverpool most of his life & still lives in Liverpool, Cilla couldn't wait to leave, like you say Ricky hasn't forgotten his roots, were as Cilla only remembers her roots when the camera is on.
So your saying if your a multi millionaire you cant leave the city you were born in move somewhere else ? What a silly thing to say ? Famous or not famous, rich or poor, anyone has the right to live where they like. Do you hate everyone who moves from where they were born (because that would be a LOT of people). Whilst I was down South - I don't think I harped on about how great the North was though. Cilla plays on the fact she's from Liverpool - I don't understand why. I'd have more time for her if she said she couldn't wait to leave the dump she was born in!
Based on the encounters so many people have reported with Black, she is a very unpleasant character herself.
There are too many people with different experiences that all have a common theme for them all to be making it up.
Odd too that she has never addressed these rumours / anecdotes. If she was a genuinely nice person, you would expect her to mention the smear campaign against her and laughingly mention in the occasional interview "Apparently I'm the most unpleasant person in showbiz and a nightmare to deal with", but instead the silence is deafening.
Baseless Rumours are one thing, but in this case I think its no smoke without fire- Producers who worked with her didn't like her, Airline Staff don't like her, countless personal anectdotes from people- Not to mention the recent biopic of her, which she herself sanctioned, made her look like an unpleasant ruthless woman determined to make something of herself at any cost- Such constant, consistent slating of her from most corners who come.into contact with her has to suggest she's fairly unpleasant no? (I can't actually think of a celebrity that's had more bad feeling said about her)

Well she would certainly have a lot of competition for the title. I remember Max Clifford (yes, I know) saying that in his opinion the majority of showbiz personalities were unpleasant people.....there's probably a core element, maybe 10 or 15% who are genuinely nice and decent people unaffected by fame.

Sorry mate but I worked at LWT while Black was in her heyday with 'Blind Date' and I know the real Cilla, Frankie Howard tolerated her and was certainly not a friend, that's why I'm rather bemused by your posts. You claim to know this and that about her but it's all rather random and there is no one you can call on to back up your stories.
I'd be happy to furnish you after agreement with certain friends email addresses from LWT and from showbiz circles one of whom Cilla has claimed to be a good friend who cannot tolerate the woman. They could furnish you with stories of the real Cilla Black.
And if you are not Cilla then I guess you must be young Robert, some advice which I hope you take heed off, ' don't try your hand a PR, your four posts have been an epic fail in promoting yer mum'

However, some of the posts here have been downright vile (I took issue with people scoffing at reports of her having arthritis in her hands for instance, when they said "she doesn't want to shake hands/she can still hold a glass of bubbly" etc.) What does seem to be the case is that she is very good to the fans.

Nope. Not at all. I admit to giving her a fair bit of stick here on DS but don't seriously relish the thought that she may be ill or be the subject of bad news.

Black has reportedly tried to deny supporting the Conservative Party, yet she forgets just how many photos there are of her on stage at Tory conferences and rallies.
If she loves Liverpool as much as she claims, she could have never supported Thatcher or appeared on stage backing the Conservatives after what Thatcher's policies did to so many families on Merseyside. The effects can be seen today in parts years later and the Tories are despised in Liverpool.
