As one of Cilla Black's oldest friends, DALE WINTON I was wondering why we haven't had any comment from him with regards to her death. Nor did he appear at her funeral. Any ideas, anyone ?

He is potentially going through some stuff like depression who knows I wouldn't judge him for it.

Perhaps Dale is recovering from a particularly bad sunbed accident.

Did anyone notice Paul McCartney there - I didn't?

I think I saw his brother.

EDIT: Reading the other thread, several others were missing too - Joan Collins, Barbara Windsor etc

According to his friend Steve Allen on LBC this morning, he's in the US at the moment.

I've not seen Dale Winton for ages. I think the last time I saw him was when he was hosting that quiz before the lottery numbers were drawn.

Yes, he did. I think Dale lives in Nashville now.

Yes his brother was there. There were a lot of absentees though.

In it to Win It is being recorded in Glasgow today so perhaps they've been recording all week and he couldn't get out of this commitment.

Something not stacking up. He's too upset to talk about her death yet he's OK to record In It To win It and, even though he's just a couple of hundred miles away doesn't get time off for the funeral.

I can understand Starr & McCartney not going but Dale was one of her closest friends.

There were quite a lot of people who I thought were her friends were missing. Winton, as you have already said. Collins, Bassey, Windsor - the latter did that toe curlingly embarrassing number with CB and O'Grady at a Royal Variety, and I thought they went back a long way. There weren't that many celebs there at all, mostly unknowns. Testimony to her being one of the people and down to earth, ahem!

The most loyal person a friend could have? That's... unusual.

It was a regular funeral Mass. I didn't see anything particularly tacky about it.
