Welcome to the Second Annual Edition of the Eurovision Dance Contest Game - the game based on the real Eurovision Dance Contest, which ran in 2007 and 2008.
Last year, Macedonian Karate Champion Natasa Ilievska and her dance partner Daniel Kimovski took the trophy, while Vincent Simone and Flavia Cacace won the People's Choice award.
This years contest takes place in Skopje, the capital of the Former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia (F.Y.R. Macedonia for short) and will see SCD/ DWTS celebrity/pro couples from Europe (and beyond!) competing to win this years title.
Contestants will just need to choose two YouTube videos of dances from their chosen couple, from any version of Strictly from around the world, which will be scored by a panel of judges and other voters in a Eurovision Style Scoreboard.
I am looking for judges, contestants and voters to participate in this years contest, check the posts below for details!
The basic rules of the game for contestants are:
Pick a couple who have taken part in any version of Strictly
Choose two dances for them
Choose a country for them to represent
Thanks!

In a twist from last years format, I am considering adding a panel of judges, in the same format used during the 2008 contest. Each judge will award a score to all of the couples in each of the two rounds, using the Eurovision 1-8, 10, 12 system, rather than the usual Strictly 1-10, where 12 points is the equivalent of a Strictly 10, and 10 is the equivalent of a Strictly 9. One judge can volunteer to be a head judge, and rank the couples in order in case of a tie! If you are interested in judging, post in this thread before midnight on Friday the 4th September.
I am looking for around 16 couples to take part in this years event, and forum members can sign up to be a "Head of Delegation" for a participating country (List of countries to choose from will be included in a later post.) The United Kingdom entry is already selected, and will be the winning couple from last years Strictly, which was of course:
As head of delegation for your chosen Nation, you will pick a celebrity/ pro couple who competed in SCD/ DWTS in any country in the world, or a similar style programme, and send videos from Youtube for two of their dances, which will compete in the two rounds of the game.
If you are interested in participating, just post in this thread the following:
Name/Nickname
The Couple you have chosen to represent you
The Country you wish to represent
Youtube link for Round 1
Youtube link for Round 2
Rules regarding couples, dance styles and countries will be in an upcoming post.
Videos must be from Youtube only, other websites will not be allowed.
You have until midnight on Friday the 4th September to enter a couple. I will fill any vacant slots with additional couples, so that there are enough for a full competition!
Voting will be open to everyone throughout the two weeks of the competition, including Judges and Contestants, although contestants cannot vote for their own entry.
This year, eligible couples will be celebrity/ pro couples that have competed in Strictly Come Dancing/ Dancing with the Stars or a similar style programme in any country in the world, and do not necessarily have to come from the country they are representing.
Couples must have performed at least two routines together during the series. You may select couples from the real Eurovision Dance Contests, but they must be with different routines. Celebrity/ Pro couples that competed in last years game can be sent again, but must dance different routines to the ones they danced in the first edition of the game.
Videos must be from Youtube only, other websites will not be allowed.
The couples who participated in the first edition, when professional couples were also allowed, were as follows:
1. Belarus - Yulia Raskina and Denis Moryasin (Tango and Rumba)
2. Armenia - Mariam & Armen (Cha Cha? and Argentine Tango?)
3. Portugal - Helder Almeida & Mariana Semião (Samba and Rumba)
4. Ireland - Nicky Byrne & Karen Hauer (Tango and Dance Fusion)
5. Egypt - Denise Van Outen & James Jordan (Charleston and Showdance)
6. Poland - Dorota Gardias & Andrej Mosejcuk (Paso Doble and Tango)
7. Italy - Vincent Simone & Flavia Cacace (Samba and Argentine Tango)
8. F.Y.R. Macedonia - Natasa Ilievska & Daniel Kimovski (Jive and Cha Cha)
9. The Netherlands - Arjan & Janneke (Waltz and Paso Doble)
10. Slovakia - Martina Hingis & Matthew Cutler (Waltz and Rumba)
11. Lithuania - Gavin Henson & Katya Virshilus (Viennese Waltz and Samba)
12. Russia - Sergey Konovaltsev and Olga Konovaltseva (Quickstep? and Jive?)
13. Azerbaijan - Mehman Mehdiyev & Leyla Izzatova (Argentine Tango and Cha Cha)
14. United Kingdom - Abbey Clancy and Aljaz Skorjanec (Quickstep and Showdance)
15. Morocco - Laila Rouass & Anton Du Beke (Foxtrot and Charleston)
16. Finland - Andrew Cuerden & Hanna Haarala (Rumba and Cha Cha)
Countries indicated by # will definitely be represented in the contest, as the seven highest scoring countries from 2014. The entry for United Kingdom has already been decided (see above), but you can choose from any of the other countries listed below, that have not been chosen by another contestant.
The countries are Sovereign States as recognised by the United Nations, which are either Full or Associate Members of the European Broadcasting Union, who organise the real Eurovision competitions. As Australia was allowed to take part in the Eurovision Song Contest earlier this year, I decided to include the Associate Member countries as well this year, so you will notice a few Non-European countries in the list!
