On the day Diana died both BBC1 and ITV became rolling news channels from about 6 a.m. and that is what will happen, David Dimbleby will anchor the BBC coverage. There is also a lovely film of helicopter shots of the UK cut to music which will be used as a sustaining feed. The BBC Queen obit is several hours long as well.
Or any spare Dimbleby that happens to be lieing around at the time.
The others, mainly the same as scheduled, I'd guess.
Channel 5.... Celeb Funeral Planner
A worthless celeb plans a tacky TV driven funeral for a loved one,
Live Funeral on Benefits
Those on benefits show how to afford a funeral and get drunk on cheap beer.
Don't Tell The Deceased
A next of kin secretly organises an outrageous funeral for the departed, cameras inside the coffin will capture the corpses reactions.
Meanwhile on ITV2 Sally Morgan and Colin Fry gain exclusive access to the Queen in her first ever interview.

You'll be lucky if the football is still shown, I still haven't forgiven Diana for cancelling the Liverpool game.
The only way Football would happen on the day of the Queens Death, is if they announced she died 1/2pm on a Saturday afternoon, and with the teams and officals and fans at the grounds
It'll be overkill. There's no reason for channels to ditch programming in these days of everyone having a news channel, least of all for programmes to be ditched for days on end, when truth be told, all you'll get is members of the public going "wah wah wah she died", celebrities/politicians going "wah wah wah she died we'll have to do this/that/the other now" on repeat, and a few bits and pieces to be shown about her life perhaps, maybe. Apart from that, it's all pointless fluff anyway that gets repeated.
Not like once she's dead that there'd be much to say anyway other than "she died, this is how, this is when, people are sad". The rest of it is just fluff, which can easily be dumped on the news channels for anyone desperate enough to watch the same news and interviews repeated 7782957 times. Every other channel should literally just carry on as normal. No dumping of comedy programmes, no dumping of general schedules, no dumping of 'normal' music to be replaced by sombre music. All those sorts of things do is try to make sure everyone is a miserable sod for as long as possible. Keep the schedules as they are, to all intents and purposes. Same goes for radio, keep playing normal music.
Endless repeats of The Royal Family, maybe:D. The media will wallow in this and there will endless tributes from celebrities, politicians and ordinary members of the public such as Auntie Ethel who met the Queen at Sandringham Church, Christmas morning 1956 when she presented Her Majesty with a stuffed hippopotamus, she made as a gift.
There will be no escape from it. The florists along with the media, will be the only ones very happy,

C 4 will probably spend the day about Diana's life...death..funeral...:p
But when Her Maj dies, I understand a lot of the commentary on her life has already been filmed and is just waiting in the vaults - as it does for many a person. So, the perfect day to have Russia 24 on, then ;-)
Or all day watching cats tumble over on shiny floors on youtube ^_^

As I posted in another thread, if The Queen enjoys roughly the same lifespan as her mother she's got another ten-fifteen years left in her yet, and who knows what tv might look like then. So I wouldn't worry about it for now. But whilst I obviously don't wish it to happen, the irony, of course, would be if she were to pass away within the next six days and fall short of overtaking Victoria as our longest reigning monarch.
Even though they showed Corrie on the day, Princess Diana died not sure they would these days.
It wasnt so easy to move the schedules those days,
I bet they have plans.
There'd be a special Corrie, possibly even partly live. (A tearful) Ken Barlow will be in the Rovers and propose a toast to the King..... It is Coronation Street after all.

Yes, endless tweets from zelbs who for some reason seem to think we give a flying one what they think, and then 'here's a facebook message from Alison who says she saw the Queen as she passed through Grimsby in 1986 and feels she has lost a close friend'.

I'll have you know im on tenterhooks to discover what Geordie Shore think and if the last knob from Big Brother is 'shocked and devastated'
I remember reading that the original plan when the Queen Mother died was for there to be at least a week of 'sombre' programming to reflect the momentous news. Then Diana died (who was, arguably, a more relevant and popular figure at the time) and within hours there were hundreds of complaints from viewers, who wanted their 'normal' telly back. So when the Queen Mother did pop her clogs, the coverage was scaled back quite a bit.
I imagine, as the Monarch, it'll be wall to wall for the first day or two (at least on BBC1 and ITV) when the Queen goes, but people don't like their schedules to be messed around with too much.

They wanted at least a week of sombre programming when the Queen Mother died? Bloody hell. Talk about overkill!
For me the issue isn't about schedules being messed around, more how on earth can you basically have round the clock 'coverage' of the Queen dying for example when basically all there is to say is that she died, this is how and this is when, the funeral will be then, the Kings coronation will be then, these are a few changes to be made, now listen to hundreds of people repeating the same old dross/fluff about how sad it is that she died. Once you get past the relevant facts, the coverage is little more than talking heads, and so in reality could easily be shoved in a 5 minute news bulletin with everyone being told if they want more 'detailed' coverage to go to the various news channels, with the schedules left as they are unless they want to stick a programme about her life on in the evening. Even the main news bulletin at 6pm could just be 5mins saying she died, what'll happen, blah blah blah, then the rest of it being other news.
No death of anyone, not even the Queen, requires round the clock coverage, schedules dumped, sombre music/sombre programming for days on end. 5 minutes, then the news channels can take over with the fluff, as that's what they're there for basically. Same for the radio news bulletins, state the facts then tell them if they want more to watch a news channel. Play normal music, etc etc etc.
I actually feel sorry for kids who'd be dragged out to London or wherever to 'look sad' just because they're too young o be left on their own and their mum/dad/whoever wants to pay their respects, but will try to get their kids to lay some flowers or something too, when in reality most of them will basically be like "er, who?".

Yes, why not? He'll be in the perfection location.
I can see TV execs buying into this big time....maybe have thermal cameras to show if the Queen is feeling the heat or not?
