We had a thread about the rumours around his comeback, and we’ve got a thread about RadioX in general, but I thought we could have a dedicated thread for 'The Chris Moyles Show' itself. But if anyone thinks this thread should be deleted or merged then go ahead...
Chris Moyles returned to radio this morning with ‘The Chris Moyles Show’ on RadioX. With the first show now coming to a close, what did you all think?

Apart from that it's pretty much same as before (with adverts) which I've missed and is nice to have back again.
And better music, few digs at Radio 1 and Ben Cooper about not being allowed to play things like Bowie.
Personally Moyles is one of those people who are annoying but I want to hear what they have to say. Love or loathe him he is probably one of the UKs best radio DJs and I think he has a good home here on Radio X.
All good
Not many negatives apart from the streaming issues which could ultimately be a positive for Radio X if it leads to free publicity along the lines of "Radio X app and website crashes due to demand!" which is how it's being spun on air at least.
The new Dave was a bit on the quiet side, but I'm sure that will change after a few shows have passed.
Strange to hear how many times he mentioned Xfm, but then I guess it was a way of reassuring that it's going to be the same music. Last week I was told a few things which makes sense now, music wise etc it is still Xfm but the style of presenting has changed and it's position in the market has skewed a little so RadioX makes sense.
On another note Nick Grimshaw has been going Tweet crazy this morning when he normally just tweets a few times from his personal account during the show.
Pippa has worked with Chris before but Dave Masterman has brought magic to many a show on X so best of both worlds there.
It reminded me a bit of when you try to get all your old friends out for a beer 3 years after you were always going out and some of them can't make it a few can and you pick up some new friends along the way.
FM nationwide will never happen, it's all about DAB. They need more bandwidth to at least get up from 80kbps to 128kbps, then I think they could pick up some Radio 1 listeners who've outgrown it.
However, thought he was superb this morning, good mix of music and chat.
I'll be a regular.
Good to hear he can attract a new audience, the problem at Radio 1 is that he was always beaten up by the bosses for his off target content, he referenced this a few times on the show this morning. Radio X seems to be giving him the opportunity to appeal to a much broader audience, the downsides are lack of national FM,coverage, only available in mono on DAB (less of an issue as his shows is mainly speech based), commercials interrupting his flow but he can just tag these onto a song or the news which would cause him to stop anyway and the huge cross promotion the BBC gave him.
He has the potential to make Radio X big and no reason why they shouldn't be aiming to exceed Absolute radio's audience but don't think they'll ever be as a big as Radio 1, 2, Heart and Capital due to the limited FM coverage whilst a huge amount of radio listening (particularly in car) is done via FM.
Maybe it's time they did away with the Classic Fm frequency and give the Nationwide frequency to Radio X.
That wouldnt be allowed.
It would if Radio X switched from indie rock to classical music.
Ha ha imagine Moyles playing Bach etc
6:30-10, same as his Radio 1 slot.
Classic FM is far more valuable to Global than Radio X will ever be. For a start it appeals to an ABC1 audience, the type of listener who would never tune into the radio equivalent of a stag do.
The whole bandwidth thing isnt as big an issue as some people are making out.Yes, people in the know notice the difference, but mr van man or school run mum really only notice the basics, ie, is it pn FM, DAB or app, etc. Agree the FM thing prob wont ever happen but i think the figures would go up more than it would if they up the bitrates if it was too happen.
What are you talking about from Global's website;
Radio X; 892,000 people tune into Radio X each week, and 67% of those are in the ABC1 bracket.
Classic FM; 69% of Classic FM's audience are ABC1, most are interested in the arts and finer things in life, constantly seeking out aspirational lifestyles, new experiences and ethical choices.
So Classic FM getting only a slightly higher 2% more in the ABC1 bracket, what a load of rubbish that Radio X won't appeal to ABC1 when 67% are in this category. Please check your facts before posting!
ABC1 (Upper & Middle class) is 53% of the population and C2DE (Working class) 47%, so by getting 67% ABC1, Radio X is more likely to appeal to this than to the C2DE. So lets end this talk of Radio X only appealing to lower classes.
But those aren't Radio X's figures are they? Those are XFM's.
I have DAB in the car, wouldn't ever buy a car without DAB now.
Moyles will attract audiences from radio 1, 2 and Absolute and, you are 100% right, he has the potential to make Radio X big and I wouldn't be surprised if he doesn't take Radio X to London's number 1 at Breakfast before the end of 2016
