All ferry arrivals from Sweden, Denmark and Germany will be subject to checks by Norwegian officials and popular land crossings will also see increased controls, PM Erna Solberg said.

"Now that Sweden has implemented border controls, it will help us. But it could also mean that more people will come to Norway via boat from Germany and Denmark. [We are putting in controls] to keep the Danish ferry and the Kiel ferry from becoming the new influx point,” Solberg told NRK.

Solberg stressed that Norway would continue to follow the Dublin convention and send refugees back to Sweden if it was used as a transit country.

Merkel tried to balance throwing a few bones to those on the right of her Christian Social Union (CDU) and their conservative Bavarian allies with sticking to her principles.

She said that asylum policy would have to change now that the number of applications has ballooned to close to one million in a single year.

Europe would have to agree on legally-binding quotas for the number of refugees each country should accept, she said.

And in response to Germany's European Commissioner Günther Oettinger, who warned that too-generous policies were attracting large numbers of people, the Chancellor said she was reducing so-called 'pull factors', including cash handouts to asylum seekers.

In September, Germany declared Albania, Kosovo and Montenegro "safe", meaning that their citizens, like those of neighbouring Serbia, Bosnia and Macedonia, would automatically be ineligible for asylum.

Germany has identified some 150,000 asylum seekers from the region whom it wants to deport, and Albania, Kosovo and Montenegro have now agreed to recognise Germany's identification procedure and its temporary travel document, or "laissez-passer".

The government also wants to be able to deport applicants from Pakistan and several African countries using this document.

I'll believe it when I see it.

The area around the Yamadi camp, a few hundred metres from the Turkish border, was targeted by Russian strikes three times in the past month. The nearby Aubain camp was struck by a cluster bomb on November 9, killing four people and injuring dozens more.
    ...
Nine thousand people are sheltering in Yamadi camp, up from 5,000 a week ago. Before the Russian strikes, it was considered to be one of the safest refugee camps in Syria. There had not been any air strikes nearby in the four and a half years since the conflict began.

this piece further down that article is interesting
Tino Sanandaji is a kurdish national economist in Sweden and his response to this is as following: “The UN:s resources for 2.5 million Afghan refugees equals the cost of 300 unaccompanied refugee children for one year. Cutting down on healthcare and schooling for millions of poor in order to afford a few expensive refugees in Sweden isn’t “taking responsibility”, it’s blatant madness. It will only seem as reasonable to our government because they’re captured in mass psychosis. What Sweden is about to do is a misdeed of historical proportions, and those who have pushed this forward have many lives on their hands.”

He links to an article by Reuters which explains that because of the “migrant crisis” dominating headlines and demanding cash, the UNHCR in Pakistan has received only $33.6 million for 2015 out of its $136.7 million annual budget.

So if you support asylum immigration to Sweden, you’re also supporting the oppression of the poor and excluded in other countries. Basically, the world has officially gone full retard. In Sweden you’re considered racist if you don’t want to accept refugees because that means you don’t care about poor foreigners in need. But according to that line of logic you’re also racist if you want refugees in Sweden, because that means you don’t care about poor foreigners in need.

The same applies to every EU country doing the same. Spending vast amounts of money and depriving millions of people, naturally attracting exploiters and wasting vast amounts of money on them too. The icing on their particular cake, the Swedish Government are considering cutting their International aid budget by 60% as a direct consequence of their misplaced "altruism".

Disgusting and it's not the only incident of innocent deaths by any means. What are these people, mere collateral damage or is this deliberate? Responsible adults needed to supervise the boys playing with their toys and more extremism and retaliation guaranteed.

I'm pretty sure many will be aware of all the dodges to get their applications granted. This made me laugh.

    https://acidmuncher.wordpress.com/2015/10/21/the-refugee-children-of-sweden/

This made me laugh mainly because some of here were on here months ago saying precisely this. I well remember debating this with at least three "ladies" on here who wouldn't believe that this was going on and that we should do all we could to help these "children." :D:D

We just fall for any old guff they tell us. There's an afghan man around here who has been told he is being deported and they have featured him in the local paper saying what an upstanding pillar of the community he is! He was apparently dropped off years ago in the city centre in the dead of night. He doesn't know who dropped him off but he does know that he has no family. That's his story and he's sticking to it. If that's true Then my name is Lady Colin Campbell!! :D:D

At the time he was supposed to be 14 so was put into foster care where he has remained ..... That costs around £500 a week plus he gets all his clothes bought for him, pocket money, computer, outings etc etc. On top of that obviously he's received a good education and free healthcare. Add up what that little lot has cost us so far!! ;-) and then multiply it by all the others pulling the same stunt!

He is now supposed to be 18 but the picture in the paper looks like a man of at least 25.

Obviously he doesn't want to go back to Afghanistan and is pleading that he has been here for 4 years and has made friends. I say he's done well out of us and they should deport him.

She's got a plan B for the Greek influx, Erdogan, which should have been long before now. They have to sweeten the pill first. What the plan B is for anyone getting into Europe any other way is, god knows. Unless she can send any refugee of any nationality to Turkish refugee camps. How do they propose to get around the fact that Turkey isn't considered a safe country to be able use them this way?

Idiots. Sweden are not the first point of entry so what makes them think they can send them back to us? Some of the bickering between the nordic nations during this mess has been pathetic.

French, German ministers want €10 billion EU security, refugee fund

"Macron and Gabriel say spending is needed to keep the EU from drifting apart on migration."

What is really needed to pay for this mess is a Worldwide swingeing tax on all the Corporations making a profit by selling arms and ammunition to the participants in the conflict.

There should be no profit in killing people and displacing populations.

    Schengen: going, going… gone

"LONDON — No government is as yet fully prepared to admit it, but the brief era of borderless travel through most of the European Union is over."

Still hung up on quotas for the rest of Europe when she knows very well that's not going to work. Still promising she'll deport 150, 000 failed asylum seekers. All pie in the sky.

Another migrant girl washes ashore in western Turkey amid ongoing crossing attempts
The dead body of another young girl has been found washed ashore in the western Turkish province of Aydın, amid continued attempts by migrants to cross into European countries from Turkey by sea.

The girl, so far unidentified, was found dead on Nov. 25 after reportedly washing up on the coast of a national park in Kuşadası, a popular resort district in Aydın.

It looks like that will be changed.

    http://www.todayszaman.com/anasayfa_germany-open-to-including-turkey-on-eu-list-of-safe-countries_401545.html
The German government is willing to support an EU proposal to put Turkey on a list of "safe countries" whose citizens have little chance of being granted asylum in Europe, a senior official in Berlin told Reuters on Wednesday.
European leaders meet in Brussels on Thursday to discuss strategies for dealing with tide of refugees trying to enter Europe. The agenda includes increasing cooperation with Turkey and other countries bordering Syria to try to keep millions of refugees in the region.
Germany has previously been sceptical of the proposal, mainly because of Ankara's human rights record and its treatment of the Kurdish minority.
In past decades, many Turkish Kurds have been granted asylum in Germany and elsewhere in the EU. Ankara has asked to be put on the "safe country" list.

Germany admits - Migrant crisis is OUR fault: Country's EU commissioner says their generous asylum system is a 'magnet for refugees'

    http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-3334742/Germany-admits-Migrant-crisis-fault-Country-s-EU-commissioner-says-generous-asylum-magnet-refugees.html

Germany's EU commissioner has blamed his country's 'open door' policy for creating Europe's refugee crisis, which has seen tens of thousands of people arrive at EU borders every day since September.
Günther Oettinger branded Germany's asylum law as like a 'magnet' for refugees and has called for a drastic rethink as to how to deal with the crisis.

    Just figured that out :D

Three Syrian refugee families to arrive in Gloucestershire before Christmas
It follows the government’s commitment to taking in 20,000 Syrian refugees over the next five years.

The first family will arrive in Gloucester on December 15 with two more being housed in Cheltenham before Christmas.
