From my understanding ... Total Wipeout (like the voice), was a bought in format ... As we all know, the direction the BBC is being sent in is to not enter into high value contracts for externally produced formats / shows (which is why The Voice is off to ITV). This show is basically a fairly cheap to make show, with no massive prizes, which should tick all John Whittingdales boxes. I don't mind it myself ... Harmless enough
Take the best bits of Total Wipe Out and Ninja Warriors and then remove the audience? No tension or drama at all.
Who thought this was a good idea? Really, really needs a studio audience to give it some OOOMPH. Sue Perkins' commentary is also the audio equivalent of mogadon.
I quite enjoyed it but the first round did get a bit repetitive. If it is the same first round every week it will get very repetitive. Also some of the obstacles e.g. the pole vault don't look at all like that are doable.
Time was when Sue Perkins was a pretty good stand-up. Now she is reduced to Reading Out Loud vacuous scripts probably written for Richard Hammond on Total Wipeout, with suitable edits to make it fit this mess of a programme.
I hope the BBC didn't pay more than 50p for the format, it's a complete rip-off of Total Wipeout which actually was quite enjoyable. How on earth did this get beyond the stage of a pilot ?
Seems like an indoor version of Total Wipeout which in itself was a total rip-off of Ninja Warrior
I'd hardly call Wipeout a rip off of Ninja Warrior. The only similarities they have is that it's in the same genre as each other.
As for Can't Touch This - can't say I was that impressed. As others have said, the lack of audience kills any atmosphere it should have.
Game 1 felt really, really long, whilst Game 2 and 3 felt a lot better. Hopefully they have more games to show next week otherwise it's going to get boring quickly - nothing to rival the big red balls yet
I kept switching between BBC1 AND ITV as every time something more shite appeared.
Its even worse than the effort Ken Bruce did a voice over for.
In fact Don't Scare the Hare and Epic Win were better. Never did like Total Wipeout either.
There is no tension with pre-recorded highlights with voice overs. Unless a bit of violence is introduced as with the Japanese shows.
Just swap Sue Perkins for Hammond and it will be fine.
I don't mean this with any disrespect but what is it you like about it? Genuinely intrigued. I just saw:
lots of people falling, essentially the same clip with different people.
no atmosphere ... whatsoever.
presenters and voice-over even sounded bored in places.

The show would be semi-tolerable without it.

4/10 must try harder.
Embarrassingly bad.
Can't Touch This - soon to be renamed "Can't Recommission This"

More suited to CBBC!
3 minutes longer than i did (intro was enough :kitty:)
2 failures in a row. I believe someone at the BBC should have their head on the chopping block!
Yes I'd watch that:D
Thanks. I enjoyed writing that review more than I did watching the programme
