Never realised how serious it was and that he has to wear a 'lifer' vest connected to an electric shock box

Excellent piece and James comes across as a really nice guy

Bairstow out to another poor decision

After mentioning about the strength of Notts pace attack, Bird and Gurney have been awful as well

I'm surprised at Notts choosing Bird as their O/S player. I don't think he brings anything different or special to their attack, and he's no batter, either.

Do they not make up lost overs in County Games ?

I notice that some games today lost 2 or 3 hours to rain but they all seemed to call it a day at 6.30 even if the sun was shining.....

Nice to see Kent playing well......actually, nice to see Kent playing at all this week, having lost 6.5 out of 8 days to bad weather so far this year..................

Yes, 8 overs. However it's cloak and daggers, they reduced the day by 30 minutes but use that to catch up if it rains. What was wrong with 11 - 6.30 I don't know, and if they couldn't add half-an-hour for weather @ 6.30 they could start earlier the next day.

Trescothick's now the second all time highest run scorer in Somerset's history.

Harold Gimblett is in first place on the list.

Harold's century on debut is an amazing story.

    David Foot's biography published by Stephen Chalke's Fairfield Press is excellent;

They didnt declare. No11 bat Fidel Edwards got badly injured in warm-up this morning so Hants innings ended at 9 down. And Edwards won't be bowling.

Going through a cricket quotes book last night, when Edwards was batting for the WI one time, apparently, Richie 'Morning everyone' Benaud said that they'd put someone on the mid wicket boundary for Fidel Castro :D

Just to confirm, WI = West Indies, not Women's Insititute.

Leicester, huh? If we go on to win this, what were the odds on The Mighty winning their first two games? Ten grand to one?? :D

Knew our bowling was alright, but didn't expect the batsmen to get 400 in the season, let alone one innings. Maybe the "toss" rules has been to our benefit, pitches they can dig in to?

Hildreth should have been England's No 4 for a decade.

Looks like a long grinding day for Lanky v Somerset, just the one Somerset second inns wicket down. Anderson getting plenty of pre-Test bowling though, but I'd rather him just bowl 5 overs and take 6 wickets!!

Spoke too soon - 2-down now. W for Kerrigan, maybe, just maybe.....

Tressa's still in though, and Hilda's yet to bat :-(

Looks like all the Division One games are heading for draws

Durham might have the best chance of forcing a win if they can get another 7 wickets and leave themselves enough time to get any runs that Surrey get ahead by

Banger and Bucky do the biz :)

Need to find a No. 5 (and 6 maybe). Allenby got a ton in the 2s today.

Sky must be over the moon that they picked such an exciting game to air. It's a real cracker, Notts v Yorks now.

    Good fightback from Somerset

Hope we haven't overbowled our attack by enforcing the follow on and spending anther day in the field

Pleased with 11 points though and the upper reaches of the table :)

Ball is class, he must be surely close to an england call up, wonder how is white ball skill is like.
got a good chance in the test team as well should be in the top 6 for an england call up.

White ball, isn't really our problem ATM, I don't think, yet so many vying for that third-seamer in Tests. Finn hasn't really started the year well.

Could probably name about 10 who could be in contention depending on what they want to go with, yoof, or swing, left-armer, pure pace, all-round abilitythe options are all there.

Oh and Bell-Drummonds start to the season is very interesting, long been called one of the most talented in the country, never really produced until now. Burnham, Clarke and Koehler-Cadman all doing well too for the young uns.

So yet again a potential-filled Summer, hopefully no need to go back.

Brilliant unbroken stand of 168 runs between the two.

    Trescothick's batting form has been great recently in his last 12 County Championship innings he's scored 827 runs with two not outs (85, 5, 5, 153, 210*, 87, 6, 3, 127, 12, 5, 129*).

That was also Trescothick's 60th first-class century as well

I agree about the number 5 position also Abell's batting form this season hasn't been very good either which is a worry hopefully he gets a good score against Warwickshire.
