Was surprised not to see a thread about this, especially with a new host in Sandi Toksvig. Personally I thought she did very well replacing Stephen Fry, though she did feel a bit like she was on autopilot at times. Maybe it's just that the show feels different without Fry at the helm but after 13 series such a change wasn't likely to go completely unnoticed.

It was only her first show - as the presenter, I know she's been a guest in the past - and it'll take a few more for her to really settle down.
I think she's a good replacement for Fry.
BIB: Me too. Thank you for starting one.
I thought Sandi did a splendid job, but she's always been one of my favourite QI panelists - witty, knowledgeable, keen to absorb fascinating new facts.
I suspect this was not the first show she recorded as host. There was no "Welcome to a new series of QI. I'm your new host" comment at the start. There were one or two comments from the panel relating to her being the new girl, so that might be why they choose this episode to go first.
Toksvig may well be very good, I think. I've seen her guest host a couple of live stage performances of 'I'm Sorry I Haven't A Clue' when Jack Dee wasn't available and she was excellent at it. I'm fairly sure she's also hosted 'Have I Got News For You' at some point. So she's not going into the job cold. She also does seem to be establishing a good relationship with Alan, which is a key aspect of the show's comedy IMO.
I think she'll do fine.
Enjoyed this a lot more than recent series with the smug supercilious Fry, who used to be sharp and funny before his ego got in the way.
Agree. I'd stopped watching ages ago because I couldn't stand any more smarmy Fry. I'll probably start watching it again, now.
Last night's show was fine. Not brilliant, but fine.
Sandi is fine and I like Romesh.........I'd never heard of the woman but she seemed OK and Phil and Alan are safe
One thing was bothering me though and couldn't stop thinking about it........it was how high up Sandi was sitting for a tiny woman
I kept thinking of being a boy and going to the barber's and how he used to put a plank of wood across the arms of the barber's chair for boys to sit on........I was wondering if Sandi was sat on a plank !........:o:p
It was years before she came out, in fact she hid it because of the usual tw@s who make comments like yours. So don't be spinning that line about her being shoehorned in because she happens to be a lesbian. She's also not a 'leftie', she was a prominent Lib Dem supporter before that Women's Equality Party venture.
Really, if you can only come up with drivel, it's better to say nothing at all.
seen Romesh is on; but I wish Alan Davies had been
dropped at the same ime as Fry. His childish antics
ruin the show for me. Repeating a good joke that is
usually made by another guest, and then shouting it
out as loud as possible until HE finds it funny. What
a git!
Sandi Toksvig is a decent replacement for Fry ... a mixture of intelligence and humour. But the not-very-knowledgeable comedians, who dominate the guest list, rarely seem interested in anything factual, but seem to take great pleasure in laughing at themselves while they behaving like children.
I find QI is neither funny nor interesting anymore.
"There's No Such Thing As The News", shown late Wednesday nights on BBC 2, is far more interesting and (despite not featuring any "comedians") is also funnier.
