Longer than I expected, to be honest. But why people can't just stay away from threads for shows they don't like, I don't understand.
If there is a thread started about a show, without qualification, surely all comment is allowed and to be expected. Those who want a nice cosy chat about how wonderful Takeaway is should put something like "Appreciation" or "Positive Comment Only" in the thread title.

I didn't say you can't criticise it - if you like the show. But I don't like it when people come into the thread just to say it's crap when they don't even watch it or like it at all. I don't think there's anything wrong with saying that.

Its called attention seeking, unfortunately, folks love doing it on alot of threads.
Why else do you think appreciation threads were created, to keep them out.
I think we need a SNT appreciation thread on the go, up for it?

I presume SNTA is back on 25/02 after Ninja Warrior finishes. I'm looking forward to it. It has its ups and downs but it is Saturday night telly at its best IMO

Its brilliant tv.
Amazes me how many people take it seriously like it's a life & death situation.

Let me tell you how a forum works. People chat, some people say what they like and some people say what they dislike.
People are entitled to voice their opinion of a show they dislike.
I never said they can never voice their opinion. But when posters come in saying "it's crap" and "this is a show for morons", it can become unpleasant. Just because that's "how forums work", I don't see why it has to be unpleasant on here. Dislike the show, fine. Don't ruin it for those who do like it.

If it becomes toxic in here, it's something I might look into. I did the same for Mrs Brown's Boys and it worked out relatively well.
Let's hope that the person who is selected for the competition is not a woman every week again or 95 per cent of the time
I'm pretty sure you register to take part in Win the Ads, so it's not totally random. As it is it seems mostly women register to take part in it. It's not discrimination as has been stupidly claimed earlier in the thread.

"It's crap", is not an opinion! It's lazy, ill-informed, mindless prejudice at best. And it's rarely at best. It's flat out trolling at worst, and it's usually at worst!
So let me tell you how this forum actually works.

It's there at the top of the page every time you post. So, it is not the case that people are always entitled to voice their 'opinion' and if they do they are required to do so in a way that permits discussion, questioning, and critique; just the way that ...
"I never watch anything that X is in. I hate X!"
"I saw 5 minutes and never again"
"They should sack writer A and producer B for this"
etc.
... don't! It's not big, and it's not clever. Far from signalling virtue it demonstrates that the writer has severe entitlement issues and i clearly of the deluded opinion that it's all about them. I don't need to know what you don't watch or who you despise; nobody does! Why then does anyone feel the need to tell me?

Are you sure about that? As far as I understand it they simply take the names of everybody in the audience as they enter the studio. I did think it weird that they laid themselves open to question by using the finger of fate last time requiring that they do the draw in advance rather than on screen but there you go.

I asked the question on another forum during the last series - someone responded by saying their friend applied and was accepted. They got given a wristband and sat in the dedicated area. The finger of fate didn't cover the entire studio, only a small section. They do take all their names I presume but the selection only covers the small number who applied.
Free ticket shows like SNT and Kyle show are mostly crap
What has the fact tickets are free got to do with anything? Saturday Night Takeaway is one of the few shows where the studio audience is actively involved, not just in terms of behaving like an audience.

So the resolution to make this a nice thread lasts 10 posts before this erudite gem?

I really enjoy the show but I find myself not contributing because of negative postings!
Not just Saturday night takeaway but many programs! :gift:
According to Wikipedia, SNTA is back on 18th.

Wikipedia is wrong. Ninja Warrior UK is still on then (it's the final that night).
