Sky 1 today announces the return of Stan Lee's Lucky Man, made by Carnival Films, reinforcing its commitment to invest in year-round original British drama.
The ten-part drama, which will air its final episode on Sky 1 this Friday (March 25) at 9pm, is the channel’s highest-rated original drama series ever, delivering an average cumulative audience of 1.9 million.
The show has also been the most watched Sky 1 programme week after week on online streaming service NOW TV.
It's a crappy slot for new comedy with no good lead-in and crappy comedy is often in it. That's why it doesn't rate well.
I'm a big supporter of the BBC but....
One of the points of the licence fee is that the BBC shouldn't be excessively worrying about ratings. There are TOO MANY occasions when the BBC seem to axe or renew programmes based purely on ratings.
Live From The BBC is a showcase for new comedy talent so with a line-up of unknowns it's no surprise it rates so low, but it's right that the BBC should give new talent a leg-up and they shouldn't worry about the ratings.
Poldark has a high of 8.7m but it didn't get 8m four weeks in a row, Last Tango never went over 8m. The Musketeers launched with over 9m and dropped after that.
What is it about The Night Manager that has made it keep viewers even with no Call The Midwife lead-in?

I would have thought GMB would have had an uplift following Tuesday morning's extended edition covering Brussels until 10:30am and sending out Susanna Reid to Brussels yesterday but BBC Breakfast is still maintaining its lead - almost 1m out in front, with +1 taken into account.
Not that it's something that ought to be boasted about, given the circumstances, of course.
Whilst Big Star Little Star isn't doing badly per say it does look like a waste of that cushy slot. Good return for MaaterChef and Grantchester is solid.

ITV's morning looks a bit better than it has done but Judge Rinder looks a bit low, although it has only just returned from a break so it might pick up to its usual 1m or so in the next week or two. The afternoon quizzes still doing well. The Chase ahead of Pointless but it's tight, with Tipping Point still doing its thing at 4pm.

That was in the 28 day rating data. In the weekly 7 day ratings it came close to 8m for the finale with 7.90m but never reached it officially. Did better than The Musketeers which opened high but she'd viewers.
So presumably Channel 4 knew they were getting a one-off deal?
As a casual F1 viewer I certainly wont be seeking it out on SKY, and I don't think its foregone conclusion that it will remain behind the paywall permanently.
A good move. BBC1 will likely attract a few younger viewers with Avengers, but ITV should in theory mop up the older audience with Maigret. Should pull in a solid 6m with a Corrie lead in even going on until 11pm.
The Queen doc should also do well on Sunday against TNM and appeal to a different audience.
Fantastic rating for Happy Valley. BBC drama is definatly the best currently what with super dramas Doctor Foster, Happy Valley, The Missing, The Night Manager and War & Peace.
ITV need to up their game, otherwise BBC will just walk all over them.
Hopefully some of these upcoming dramas will prove to be just as good as the BBC's. Marcella looks like a step in the right direction, as does Paraniod.

Also not a great start to Billy's new daytime quiz show, lowest rating show across BBC1 daytime. I haven't seen it myself but I'm told it's a bit bland and drawn out in typical 12 Yard style.

Robert Rinder's show was a bit of a flash in the ratings pan. I don't think it's done much since those first 20 editions in summer 2014, but starting during Doctors and Neighbours is a tough ask, and while it might be ITV's lowest daytime rating, I don't think it's the most disappointing, by any means.

To spend that amount of time below 1m is not great. I can't really get excited about people switching on for Tipping Point having boosted Real Deal's rating to the verge of 1m.
Why is nothing pre-4pm engaging the audience the way Tipping Point does? Yes, the 4pm hour should be rating better than 3pm, but it should be a steadier rise like BBC One. The pronounced jump suggests a lot of ITV's daytime schedule is misfiring.

I think it would benefit from being made into a two hour episode like Midsomer as they do sometimes feel rushed.

Take out the News and Bargain Hunt and BBC1 is no better. Daytime TV sucks
