A few links have already been posted from the uni website above but you should also take a look at http://www.nyu.edu/life/student-life/international-students-and-scholars/oiss-frequently-asked-questions.html

there are some interesting answers....although a lot seems to be in a language I don't understand!

EDIT: and from this answer ....are you sure your parents know what they are in for?!

"The cost of pursuing full-time studies and living in New York City is perhaps the highest in the world."

    Thanks :D
Yeh i think they do, i was talking to my dad about it and he seemed pretty clued up. When i first mentioned it i wasn't expecting them to agree  but I'm thrilled he has!

I know exactly what you're going through- it's seemingly impossible!! I'm assuming you're on an L1 visa?

    No, an O

Oooh... an interesting one for once!!! There are so many L's and E's here in FL... May I ask what your 'extraordinary ability' is??

I remember when thinking about going to Uni, I had a funny five minutes and thought why not try Havard or Yale, both their websites were very helpful and had a whole section on international students, how to fund it, what grade requirements you required, even listed differences in how their degrees work out there, and information on where to take the SAT, I think London was the closest for me, although that was 4 years ago now

I would definitely look on the internet, I would have thought all the info would be there

    Picking the right man!
Seriously though, I'm the O-3 it's my husband who has the talent. He's a sound designer but specialises.

It may be a new concept to you, but have you tried a technique called "research"?

How witty of you. Isn't that something that about 80% of the posters on the advice bored could do? And i did do research, but as you can probably see from posts like the one from *Ratbag* which was very helpful, that kind of first hand information can't really be found on the internet other than advice boards such as this one.

We should be fine. The labor certification was done for the visa so isn't needed for the EB1 so all in all the green cards should be done in about 6 months.

Why don't you pose all these questions to NYU rather than asking on here, where clearly no one (no offense) really knows the answer. NYU will have an enquiries team - contact them and they'll be pleased to let you know exactly what you need to do.

a couple of years back there was a big push for international students, and they were offering all sorts of incentives (reduced fees etc) to go over there, so its worth doing some google searches to find out if there is anything similar this year

It will be very expensive. I looked at one uni in Chicago and the fees were double what US residents pay.

I've asked for advice on these boards myself, mainly seeking help from FMs' experience. However, if it's facts I'm looking for I always try google first. If I can't find it that way I mention it in my request.

In the two cases below, you were seeking information which I'd have thought would easily be found via google. In fact, some of the answers were by way of URLs. Hence my comments, which I feel are especially relevant of someone going to college.

.......I was wondering if anyone knew what i would need in terms of qualifications, visa and things like that to be able to apply.............:)

I did (somewhat belatedly) think of that today! Silly me! :) I'm going to go call them now!
