I don't think ITV will air a show they expect to rate well at 6pm. ITV can only air a full roster of adverts for a maximum of 3 hours during primetime, so they would have to deliberately air something low rating and advert free in another slot afterwards. (OK this is not difficult for ITV but I'm sure they don't aim to do it!)
I'm surprised they've commissioned another run of 10 episodes for next year; with Dennis Waterman now saying he is leaving after 2 episodes, it could be heading for some really embarrassing ratings. They'll be on 97 episodes after the current run has finished airing so I say get the 100 milestone in the bag, do a limited series, maybe 6 episodes at a squeeze and then be done with it. The ratings won't recover now.
7pm might work for Thunderbirds are Go! but its only half an hour which may be a scheduling issue. I'm sure they could air YBF with just promos at 6.30pm or the news at like 10pm to get around it.
I wouldn't be surprised if the BBC did a Spooks and cut the episode order to 6-8 episodes. Perhaps get the old gang back together with the new cast for the final episode.
Breakfast and GMB ratings for this morning will be interesting
Even more interesting is that up until last night BBC Breakfast was billed as coming from Scotland this morning and has been promoted all week with reporters in Scotland. Suddenly it disappeared to be replaced by the extended overnight results programme with Huw Edwards (although Charlie Stayt did news headlines from Salford). Curious indeed......
Can anyone else name a show cancelled before it started?
They are probably regretting not cancelling Tumble before it started. I think it is better not to go ahead with something if you know you will have egg on your face. Rising star isn't going to work as the Voice and X factor are already declining
TBH even if ITV don't develop further series based on the Gerry Anderson properties they own, it would be nice to see them feature in Thunderbirds are Go!
The Avengers seems an obvious one to reboot but I don't think ITV have the rights but Studiocanal. Only issue would be conflict with Marvel's The Avengers which was renamed Avengers Assemble in the UK so it would either need a rename or a subtitle.
I agree, ITV should not hide Thunderbirds away like it did with the Captain Scarlet series, and BBC did with the Sarah Jane Adventures.
As far as The Avengers, that is only really famous for a leather cat suit, and half the auidence will tune in, expecting to see something based on a Marvel comic. A whole new name would be needed, maybe name it after whatever agency the characters work for.
hundreds of pilots that were filmed both for US networks and UK channels.

The Avengers has already been remade with limited success they wont do it again for a lot of reasons or at least they shouldnt.

its been 16 years since the movie, I think the show can return without having to worry about it, Doctor Who kinda had to do the same with the US TV movie, which also had "limited success" and was not well liked by fans.
I think a straight remake (if good) will find favour with an auidence, without the movie getting in the way.
UK TV Ratings @TVRatingsUK 56s
Up until 2am, BBC1's #ScotlandDecides coverage averaged 1.60m/25.5%, whilst STV's UK wide programme drew 0.36m/5.6% via ITV.
This mornings Sun say Corrie producers have finally noticed the fall in ratings, but are baffled by the fall but plan to do something about it, a tram style ratings pulling in disaster is likely.

You would think with 3 and a half million voting you would think they might get more viewers than that heh.

They could do a fire - we havent seen many of them recently. ;-)

Where the hell are the viewers? These ratings look rubbish to me.

I read that as the remake was the 1976-77 New Avengers - ran for two series with limited success and serious financial problems. The film was just an incoherent mess

are there any good ratings for the soaps? I mean EE is a great watch at the moment, but the numbers just dont back it up.

oh ok, well The New Avengers should not stop them doing a remake of the first series.

That's not quite what was said, the paper stated that Blackburn hadn't "ruled out doing another disaster scene like the Rovers fire or the Tram crash".
They could try turning things around by writing decent scripts, something that seems alien to writers under Blackburn's stewardship.

I wonder too.
Its like the audience is collectively ill.
My answer is to turn the clocks back now, bring on the bad weather-the ice and snow. Then sit back and watch the captive audience tune into.................the regional news!

Not surprised by that at all - as mentioned on another thread the STV coverage was so CHEAP looking - awful looking studio set with 2 guests squeezed onto a 2 seater couch, not bad presenting and guests but oh dear the whole thing looked as if it had been knocked up 30 minutes before transmission. Compare that to the BBC coverage:- assured, professional and a very good looking set - sweeping table, cameras, graphics etc... - miles ahead!

WDYTA is still reasonably effective and has produced some half decent figures -had some interesting and audience friendly subjects this time.
