Oh dear, some organisation has taken offence at Cameron's use of the word 'mental'. .

I'm always a bit surprised when he uses that word and that's coming from a fairly politically incorrect person. The language is a bit unsubtle ..especially coming from a PM

That's the second endorsement for Branston. I must try them.

When I tried them, although the flavour was nice, I thought that the sauce was was rather glutinous and still prefer Heinz variteties.

I didn't have you down as a baked bean fancier. Still, I suppose they liven up a leg of roasted swan or barbecued haunch of unicorn. :D

You can spot the difference with the stuff that's not been made by the original manufacturer. Own brand baked beans, for instance; nobody does them like Heinz!

I find Heinz FAR too sweet.
We've been on the supermarket own brand reduced sugar and reduced salt ones for over 20 years.

I can spot Heinz a mile off as it's like eating a spoon of sugar.

I've really enjoyed Ian's fortnight sitting in for J O'B. I haven't been tempted to switch off once (apart from Tuesday, when I didn't listen to any radio) and like the way he includes quirky topics to balance the serious stuff. And he listens to callers!

Heinz do a low salt, low sugar one too. That's the one I use.
How come we're talking about beans

Steve said own brands were lower quality and we are proving him wrong. Some are, some are the same and some are better quality. I used to buy Morrison's Gold coffee (for example) which I found to be stronger and better tasting than Nescafe Gold. :)

I can only imagine the wailing and gnashing of teeth happening on the O'Brien family holiday, he will be absolutely furious that he wasn't around to discuss Thatcher's death. I wonder if he and the estuary accented Mrs O'Brien shared a bottle of champagne on Monday night before dinner?

I'm rather looking forward to hearing his 'sideways look' at the events of this week. Would have been on air on Monday when the news broke? If he would have been that will have made him even more livid. He will be saying that it could have been his moment as he broke the news to London (and beyond).

If I was programme controller at LBC I would replace O'Brien immediately. With Duncan Barkes.

Has the odious Kevin Maguire made an appearance on LBC this week? Judging by his tweets this week I think he should see a doctor as he seems to be rather mentally disturbed in my opinion. It has been quite the week for bizarre behaviour and outpourings.

And most importantly he doesn't say howible things about the wunderful Tories like what that nasty Mr O'Brien does.

    Agreed.

    I also like Ian Payne.

I'd like to see him get a full-time gig on LBC.

I agree that Ian Payne has been doing a good job in the 10am to 1pm slot.

Very much enjoyed the latest Mystery Hour podcast from James O'B. Catch the free podcast if you can. I am all for keeping James and not replacing him with Duncan. Too dull.

I heard. However, DigitalSpy has a Food and Drink forum. What's so different from commenting on a presenter's 'spoutings' on own brand food and politics?

    'Two legs good'?

    Why?
I cannot see any reasoning or argument in your post to warrant the replacing of James.

In my opinion the 10am until 1pm slot needs a shake-up. I have heard James O'Brien's dreary stories about his schooling, drugs, New Labour love-ins and his rather odd views on animals too many times. I find his brand of champagne socialism rather boring. James O'Brien is rather full of himself and unbearably smug. I like Duncan Barkes and would like to see him given an opportunity in another time slot rather than the middle of the night.

I was under the impression that this thread was for LBC discussion and I am expressing a preference for one presenter over another. It is not wishing someone out of a job - it is more of a restructuring idea!

I understand what you are saying I guess the political discussion just took the whole thread over and thus merited it's own thread. Seems to be working well IMHO.

Just enjoying some old recordings of Nick Abbot in the days when LBC wasn't so serious (courtesy of radamfi):

You little devil, Hitch. Are there enough beans for two?
I'll bring my own cheese. ;)

So where would you 'restructure' James to?

I like Duncan too, but do not see him as a daytime presenter. There is "something of the night" about him - but not in the way Anne Widdacombe meant:D
