I must say I will miss little pea. I remember watching him score in the Charity Shield (yes, I've forgotten what it's now called) with his face. His absolute joy at that was so infectious. I actually think that in terms of "personality" (in as much as us fans can ever know), he's my fave United player at the moment. He said he cried when he heard United wanted him ....bless.

He has the most incredible and as you rightly and correctly say, smile out of anyone I have ever seen, I think when he smiles, the world smiles along with him!

Oh and don't worry, I still call it the Charity Shield!

That goal he scored away at Stoke, the back headed header, is still one of my favourite goals, as it was quite ridiculous to even attempt, nevermind actually do!

But saying all that, if he has any motivation to improve as a player, then for his own sake (and as sad as it would make me), he would have to leave, and get regular football elsewhere, as he is far too good a player to just be getting a few minutes here and there, Ashe is with us (and I cannot see it changing or altering under LvG).

You are right, I take my comment back.

Not a problem, I'd rather that you'd have been right!

Would be a travesty were Hernandez shipped out before some of the stubborn deadwood. It's crazy how we're considered one of the big four superclubs (RM, Barca, Bayern) yet mediocrity thrives at our club where even outstanding players are readily moved on at those other clubs. I'm not saying I want us to start playing fantasy football like RM but we really need to foster an ethos whereby only the best get to wear the United shirt, not some has-beens and never-wears.

Hernandez don't forget to shut the door on your way out. Nani,Young and Fellaini hopefully next to follow him.

    Massively harsh on Hernandez.

The guy has always done his best, scored some important goals and has never played up, despite never being given a proper run in the side.

Yes, we should probably sell him, but that's more for his benefit than ours.

Young and Nani have been consistently awful for at least two years, so I agree with you in that respect.

The latter three, I have no complaints with but what has Hernandez done to merit that sort of dismissive "goodbye"? He probably hasn't developed as much as we/he would have liked to. He is a classic poacher without the all-round game to make a huge impact necessary in games. That may be his limit talent-wise or equally the lack of consistent and regular first team football.

I think Forlan is a lesson to us all that a talented player may not just fit at United but is still a talented player. If Hernandez leaves, I will miss him but wish him well.

ETA: I was faffing around on the old laptop so posted after Jim but concur with his views.

Truth be told, was Young ever good at United? I know hindsight is 20/20 vision but I was completely underwhelmed when he signed. Ithink there might have been a CL match when he did well and I almost changed my mind about him but since then - zilch.

I'd drive to Manchester to help him move, Nani is more frustrating because occasionally you see flashes of real talent but more often than not it's just showboating that leads nowhere.

Of course you're right Dude. Just wish things had turned out differently for him and United.

BTW, when I said you weren't to comment on my earlier post, I was just messing - but I knew what you would say!

Click on the button next to the Quote button (the one with the the + sign on it) of all the posts you want to quite. Then hit the Add Reply button, bottom left of the thread (it also has a + sign next to it) - that should do it.

Basically Hernandez is the modern day version of Solskjaer, neither moan when on the bench, and both come on to score some important goals.
Just that it seems like Ole got more game time than Hernandez (I don't have those stats at hand).

Young and Nani should go, they have had more than ample opportunities to show that they deserve to be here, and have consistently fluffed them.

I wish that he could stay, but unlike in 98/99, having four players who all want to classed as first team strikers (RvP, Rooney, Welbeck, and Hernandez), just doesn't work for the latter two, as it means either playing out of position, or getting very limited game time.

It is sad and with a heart as heavy as a ten tonne weight, I say this, but he would be better off leaving us. :(

As for the not commenting point, no worries!

    Wrong, I'm afraid.

“Of course I know how the players play but I don’t know how the players play once I have trained and coached them. The first three, four weeks I want to see what they can do and then maybe I will buy more players.

“The players we have bought already, such as Ander Herrera, were already on the list. I gave them my approval because I like them, but first I want to see the players performing my philosophy."

He quite clearly stated that he would wait 3-4 weeks before buying anyone else. It could be a bluff of course, but I don't see that the quotes can be 'misconstrued'.

Yes, and coupled with what Big Ed said on MUTV yesterday:

"There is a lot of work going on behind the scenes," Woodward told MUTV. "Watch this space." ... "There is no fixed budget," he said. "Financially we are extremely strong. We want to do what it takes to win the title."

... that means to me that although no big signings are likely to be announced for a few weeks, there will be a few lined up and ready to go, as soon as LVG tells Ed to press the button. He also confirmed incidentally that some would be moved out, too. Ed summary here: http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/football/28389766

I was surprised to see that Ed came across quite well, as a pretty down-to-earth kind of guy. An Essex boy though!

Woodward is flying back from the tour on Monday.

Make of that what you will....

What was he doing on the tour anyway?

Free holiday, or are we lining him up as a Carrick replacement for the next 3 months?

We need signings, we are weaker than last season ffs

I am looking forward to seeing what style of play we try and implement against the Galaxy, very early doors, but it will be good to see formations and tactics.

So Evra has now joined Juve, thanks for the memories, he really got and understand the club.

Hopefully this will help to ease Vidal here.

So Evra has gone, a shame really as he really knew what it meant to be a Manchester United player and he really played for us with pride. After his first game away to City i thought we had signed a dud but how wrong was i, he has been one of our most consistent performers over the last 8 years and he hardly ever missed a game. Evra is up there with Denis Irwin as one of our best Left Backs and he leaves a massive hole and we will miss his experience especially as we have lost Rio and Vida this summer. Wish him all the best for the future, as well as thanking him for all the great memories he gave us. Hopefully we can now conclude a deal with Juventus so Vidal can come to Old Trafford.

We're definitely going to need another left-back, now.

Disappointed that Evra's gone, we could have done with keeping him for one more year.

    No mention of Moyes.

    How peculiar.

Who can blame him? The Moyes reign at Old Trafford should be stricken from the History books. Sir Alex Ferguson is updating his Autobiography in October and apparently one of the things he will be discussing is why it went so wrong for Moyes at Old Trafford. It should be interesting, i love Sir Alex but i bet you he won't admit he was wrong to appoint an unproven manager at the top end of the game in charge of the biggest club in the world.

A shame, it's understandable though as I guess he weren't prepared to be backup to Shaw. This could make the search for another back up difficult if the club go for a specialist left back, as I doubt anyone would be happy to come in and immediately have to be happy as a regular substitute. Vermaelen signing makes even more sense now as he can fill in at left back as well as CB.

Yup, one left back is not enough for a whole season, we need someone else, if only for cover.
Shame that Cole went to Roma, on a free transfer he would have been a good option.

    How peculiar.

I think people will want to mention him very little.
