Famous one hit wonders. The real Sharona was hounded by the US press for having the cheek to have been written about in the song by a horny ex boyfriend.

There are some dodgy lyrics in 'My Sharona'...

Good song though, I bought the single as much for the picture sleeve (which has a picture of the lead singer's then grielfriend on the cover) as for the record itself.

'Kid' by The Pretenders introduced by Kid Jensen. The story doing the rounds at the time was it was actually about him. I don't know if it was ever true though.

Kid Jensen's mother was a prostitute

I remember reading in "Sounds" at the time that Chrissie once went knickerless on ToTP - what a rebel.

Hylda Baker did too, not sure if Arthur Mullard went 'commado' though.:o

The guitarist looks a bit of a nerd, the singer like a junior bank clerk, great song though!! I bet whoever wrote this gets a very nice yearly royalty cheque!

Amazing what the letter 'a' adds to this - "My Sharon" just doesn't sound the same.

Blimey. That's a coupl of biggies to lose.

The latter, I suspect we'll see again. Does the former make another appearance on a non-Yewtree episode?
