Strange Signal Problem - Help required

On my recommendation, the in-laws bought a 9200t on Saturday.

On install, it appears that certain MUXs aren't giving a good enough signal to find all available channels.

I took my box round on Sunday, and it's the same!

This is odd for 2 reasons:
  1. Their other freeview box (an Astratech) works perfectly
  2. They live less than a mile from me, and my signal is perfect

They have a wideband loft installed antenna. They live less than a mile from Sutton Coldfield transmitter - you can see it from their living room window.

They get a better signal if a portable aerial is used!!!!!

Any ideas?

Possibly the signal is too strong, and is overloading the tuners. This would explain why they get a better signal using a set-top aerial. At that range, you should get a good signal using a coat-hanger for an aerial! You could try using an attenuator to reduce the signal strength.

Using a set top all-in-one loop aerial works better! But they get picture/sound break-up etc!!

I originally suspected that the signal was going over the top of the house, they live so close!!!

Are these suitable attenuators, from Maplin??

    Clicky

    Also, 6 or 12db?

Maplin sell them for £4.99 here . Not sure which one you need though.

Edit: Sorry. Didn't read you post carefully enough. Yes, the ones you (and I) found would be suitable.

Maplin only stock the 12db locally, so we'll give that a go.

    Thanks again...
