Why would Joss Stone do a power ballad?

Surely she needs to do some quirky little soul/pop thing?

It could still be Bonnie, given he played her on that show.

I hope not, but given more and more other artists being ruled out...

    Afterwards.

I'm clinging to that. But I still don't think it rules her out completely. They could have thought they were being crafty.

not really... he used the past tense about playing the artist and then played Bonnie Tyler over an hour afterwards.... and that was surely a dig at the fans (he'd bitched about them earlier in the show).

I've got it on mp3 somewhere .... it's NOT good!

Alvin Stardust and the lead singer of the Bay City Rollers have also participated, as have The Foundations (of Build Me Up Buttercup fame)

    as did Hazel Dean...twice!

Petula Clark would be no surprise...BBC 4 did a night all about her last month and she's been on both the Terry Wogan and Graham Norton BBC 2 shows... the Beeb is obviously besotted with her. A terrible choice of course... they learnt nothing from the Humperdinck failure clearly.

Where did these ludicrous Petula Clark rumours originate from anyway? I've been reading this name being thrown around for the past couple of weeks.

Because the BBC picked an OAP last year and it seems everyone thinks it is now a requisite for the BBC to pick an OAP that happens to have a new album out.

    1. She's on the playlists that Norton said we'd find the chosen act
    2. Today on a Youtube clip of a recent Bonnie Tyler track her fans have been slagging off the BBC for dropping her in favour of another artist. When pressed, one said the BBC preferred to go 'Downtown'.
    3. It would tally with earlier rumours that Bonnie Tyler was in the running

But it doesn't fit with Scott Mills saying we'd be proud of the act.

Most of these rumours are made up out of thin air. The Bonnie Tyler one was made up on escunited they've owned up to that as a joke. She was never even considered. He played Petula as she was a guest on his show

So essentially, it's a case of people putting two and two together and making twenty five?

I'll be annoyed if it's Petula. It all goes back to the fact that there are plenty of fresh young singers who would absolutely jump at the chance to do Eurovision. It makes me angry to think that the BBC just aren't scouting them out properly.

that's like looking up "Rumour" in the dictionary though!

I'm not saying that a random youtuber is any more credible than the next person - it was just a response to the comments I had posted in response to the comments posted about "shame on you BBC for not picking this song"

Weird that the comments are all getting removed now though

Except with every denial that comes from names on the Norton playlist what's left is increasingly acts that don't have a contemporary profile. Time will tell but right now to me Petula Clarke makes more sense than any other name on that list.

You're the one who said it seems legit at the start :p

Anyway, the comments have all gone now anyway - I might as well remove mine, they look a bit silly on their own :o
