    .

He also allows that to affect his priorities in interview questions. In last week's Newsnight debate with the Northern Ireland party leaders (which was meant to be one of the equivalents to the UK party leader debates) he spend the first ten minutes questioning the leaders about their views on gay rights. Yes I know there has been a particular issue in relation to the wedding cakes matter in NI but it is not the most important issue for voters in a pre-election leaders interview.

Lol, some people are so critical and bitchy to the extent that they'd find something wrong with every presenter.

First time I've really seen him interview someone tonight. He reminded me of the way Nichola Sturgeon just talks over everyone when they're trying to answer the question.
He tried to bully Nigel Farage but Nigel saw right through him from the very start.
30 minutes max was nowhere near enough time to have a reasoned discussion on the ground covered. It was all very hurried and obvious from the start that Davis hated UKIP.

I thought La Farage came out of it all rather well. He just laughed it off and said what he wanted to. I agree that 30 minutes wasn't enough as Davis hardly mentioned UKIP's current manifesto. It was just a load of nonsense about Paddington Bear!

I couldn't believe the breastfeeding question.
I've never seen this man before as I don't usually watch these type of interviews, but if this is typical of his banal questioning I shan't in future.

Memo for Evan Davies -I couldn't give a flying **** about any politicians' views on breastfeeding.

Believe it or not, the BBC don't actually ask themselves before each feature, does gamzattiwoo care about this?

Don't agree with the tedious old 'this is BBC agenda' bullcrap.
If they have a lefty agenda why is obvious tory boy Nick Robinson the chief political editor?

Look into Davis' background too. He's not exactly going to be Mr. Socialism.

Yes, obviously the BBC would really be struggling to fulfil their gay quota otherwise.

If you haven't seen them yet I would urge you to watch Cameron's and Miliband's interviews, especially Cameron's, he hardly got a word in. Awful style of interviewing. Let them answer the question before you move onto the next at least.

I couldn't care less whether Davis is gay or not but I do care that he's a poor interviewer, the leaders should have been done by Dimbleby, Neil or Humphrys.

He raised it because Nigel Farage previously made it an issue.

There's nothing wrong with Evan Davis. I just think some people don't like their dear, darling Nigel being shown up for what he is.

The Paddington Bear reference took up all of, ooh, 5 seconds?

No he didn't make an issue out of it. He was asked a question about it ages ago and he tried to give a balanced answer considering the point of view from both sides. He stated then and he stated last night that he doesn't have a problem with breast feeding in public places. Nigel is very liberal about such matters. It was really pathetic of Evan Davis to ask about this again, when there was a 101 questions he should of been asking Nigel about UKIP's new manifesto. If he really wanted to challenge Nigel then he would have been better doing that instead.

The BBC should have got Andrew Neal to do these interviews as he is actually competent enough to scrutinize party policies. He also lets people speak too without butting in all the time.

Tell me how many times had he forced his agenda to the fore on other Newsnight interviews and the countless he has made on Radio 4. Aye... he's always banging on about it on Business Talk, never shuts up about it. Gay this gay that.

Fair enough. You don't think it important to know a parties views on discrimination.

Just keep him on Newsnight (which I don't watch) so we don't have to listen to him on the radio.

Because it raises the issue of immigration. Albeit in a rather hackneyed way.

Yes but a brown fictionary bear coming to the uk from peru is hardly the best way to do that.

I wonder also if that approach resonated with many.

Hardly a very serious misdemeanour not to have seen paddington bear.
