With a record high of just 23.4c. The Shetlands Isles look lovely but I think the weather would take a hell of a lot of getting use to.
Especially the very low sunshine amounts in winter. Baltasound in the most northerly part of the Shetlands averages just 8 hours of sunshine in December.:o
My family are probably sweltering in Shortlands, Beckenham and West Wickham at the moment, it was horrid in Mayfair today, but a delight to step off the train at Folkestone to a much pleasanter temperature.
Mind you its still going to be a rare very warm night here
God I bet it was horrific in town. I hate having to use trains and tubes when it's like this. I can imagine you were skipping with joy when you got off at Folkstone?!?
It's much cooler here now you'll be glad to know, with a breeze...bliss!!!

Having the most amazing thunder and lightning storm in West Cornwall.
Been almost continual sheet and forked lightning for 2 hours. Never seen so much in my life.
Loud thunder claps and now raining heavily. Quite a spectacle it is.
The big storms are due in on Friday night and into Saturday morning etc,. The Met Office has been talking this up. We'll just have to see how intense these storms will become.
Only 14C in Shetland. Wonder if it's a heatwave for them too?
I'm on Orkney and it's so bloody humid right now. It's only about 12c just now (about 17 through the day or thereabouts) and I am melting. I don't fare well in warm weather A cold shower and wine from the fridge have helped but Mr Kivi's just shoved the cooker on to bake some cookies

One of my friends is in Cornwall and said it's been a lovely storm. We could really do with a good storm here to clear the air. If it wasn't so late at night, I'd be tempted to go jump in the harbour to cool off

That sounds awful! Even with this heat I'll stay here I think!
gauge was 32 degrees, the sweat has been pouring off me all day.
Definitely was this afternoon! Plenty of white chicks in their skimpy outfits, soaking up the afternoon sun!
