I wonder if the Five Live production teams are busily arranging interviews with the Rotherham Council Chief Executive and the Top banana at South Yorkshire plod to discuss the disgraceful situation with regard to the sexual abuse of 1,400 youngsters and why no sackings? Or will they be rushing around desperately trying to find another news story? No commonwealth games, so will be tad difficult...Still I am sure they'll dig one up...

Yes, there'd be no point handing 5 live a bargepole. Anything that goes against the BBC's happy clappy multi culti idyll.

BBC TV News spent more on Kate Bush comeback than 1,400 youngsters being sexually abused and the report's findings. Under the carpet.

I did enjoy George Riley's presentation of Five Live Sport on Saturday. He seems to have the knowledge, passion and personality to carry the programme and I prefer him to the anodyne Speak Your Weight machine that normally presents the programme...regurgitating the facts whilst removing the splinters from his bum due to the six hours a week fence sitting he achieves.

On Breakfast, I always used to see George Riley as little more than The Ego's bag carrier, fawning at his master's whim. But, I think he has really come on a great deal since the World Cup and I liked his style on Saturday. He did the programme very well and should be given a longer stint.

I thought we was quite good as well, possibly helped by Rugby League being his specialist subject, but credit where it is due.

As to being overshadowed by Campbell, well he seems to do that to everyone who he broadcasts with. Even RB seems hap[pier when NC is not there. Message for the management there I wonder....

Despite the fact that Rotherham is the lead story on bbc breakfast tv news. Not heard 5 live yet but I suspect the phone in will be connected in some way with it.

Can someone please tell Livesey to shut up? He keeps talking over guests, sometimes they get about 5 words out before he starts blabbering.

He's as bad as the preening Scottish Dame

Yes but in that BBC way they've managed to dodge the question of Rotherham directly.

However, Livesey is asking "Why do we ignore child abuse?"

Well Tony perhaps you might like to ask your BBC colleagues who I find it hard to believe didn't notice Jimmy Savile or Stuart Hall with young girls in their dressing rooms.

Indeed, the BBC do ignore child abuse.

1400 girls is an underestimate, the real figure is probably double that. It's almost genocide yet the BBC doesn't want to face the real question.

A distinct silence from Harriet Harpie and her ilk on their time in government in charge of women's relations when this all occurred and very little chance of BBC challenging them on their responsibilities of dealing with it......

Been away most last week riding bikes quite quickly round a track and having a proper ball but not had much any radio on.....
Did listen to the godawful Edith and James  I think it was....a really dull way of reviewing films almost (almost) as bad as Winkleman on Film 2014.....for those not keen on mayo and Kermode' s hinge and bracket style it's far more entertaining than that dire duo......

On a lighter note can I say a massive thanks to all you posters who have got us to 300 pages..... (Yes even mapperley helped add pages on!) :o
It's definitely in a dip right now hopefully the powers that be May return it back to what it was...an entertaining news station with sport rather than a soccer and misery channel....

Untill then it's swaps between BBC London and LBC I'm afraid.....

Time for South Yokshire Police to launch a dawn raid on another celebrity to distract attention from their failure to prosecute racial minority sex offenders on PC grounds....

    The irony!

'Your Call' on the BBC, who have/are covering up sexual abuse daily.

Hosted by ex Sunday/Daily Sport, porn-in-chief, Tony Livesey.

I do object to my hard-earned licence fee, being squandered on this seedy character.

James was ok, it was quite nice to have someone who defied the usual convention of not hating Transformers. It was quite amusing for him to hate the Simon Pegg film when Edith was trying to plug she had him on her Radio 6 show and then last weekend for most of the listeners to agree that the film was bad.

Someone should tell Edith that there's no need to read out the entirety of listeners emails especially those that drone on for pages

Not really a surprise - in their lead report on the Rotherham scandal, 5 Live Drive played a clip from the Asian Network, in which we heard "Racist" (twice) and, of course, "Islamophobic"...I can't recall Islam being mentioned in any news report I heard yesterday though...working to their own agenda? Perish the thought! ;-)

Why is there an Asian Network and a radio station funded by the licence fee? This should be mainstream.

Why is there an Asian Network .

Isn't that the station they tried to close down along with BBC 6 music a few years back?

I listen mostly to LBC now, I switched over on Friday for the film programme but they are still on their generous BBC holiday (must be a month now) so back to LBC and boy do I not miss Phil Williams and that terrible "quiz". :)

Tony Livesey, former editor-in-chief of the Daily Sport and Sunday Sport.

What more is there to add? Just pull up his photo...Yikes!

I didn't mind him as it goes I think it's her mostly....yet another like fearne cotton and their ilk who have been successful in broadcasting somehow despite a total lack of talent or personality
All involved should be thoroughly ashamed of themselves... ;-)

As Simon Mayo only had two weeks off from Radio 2, rather than the 5 or so weeks from 5 live, I suspect it's more to do with the freelancer Mark Kermode not being available. Nothing to do with a 'generous BBC holiday'.

This thread appears dead - much like the station. Is the output that tiresome?

Yes, very quiet after the many comments after the upcoming changes were announced. FWIW - I hate what's been done to Fighting Talk with all the different presenters. Nolan continues to be a source of shame. Thought I liked Livesly when he first started but he is becoming a real bore. Colin Paterson - I'd be a happy listener NEVER to hear his strangled tones again.
    Peter Allan - a joy!

It's even worse tonight on Phil Williams. The 1130 interview is the "chairperson" of Stonewall, (twice in a week), followed by "The Drone" playing a tennis match, which we are promised will be broadcast in its' entirety.

There really isn't a lot more to say about the station anymore, I listen less and less, there are irrelevant phone ins virtually every morning. VD's magazine programme about miserable and trivial matters with her fawning and trying to sound sympathetic to anyone with a 'story' to tell and then Streaky's ego fest in the afternoons. Night time listening with Phil Williams and Stephen Hoi Noi Nolan speaking over everyone, butting in and being rude to anyone he doesn't agree with or veers from the PC line.......not exactly edifying listening. I can't comment on the sport output because I don't listen, I am a speech based news/current events radio fan - or I was.
