All elections should be decided like this...

Two candidates in the Philippines who got the same number of votes in a local election have settled the issue of who won by tossing a coin.

Seems rather strange. But then what were the alternatives? How would this be decided if it happened here?

    Either by drawing lots or tossing a coin. It has happened many times.

    This seems to be a better way of deciding the Scottish elections after the farce we had to endure with the spoilt ballot papers.:(

    The usual procedure in the UK is drawing cards. High card wins.

    I'm not sure why, but I find that really surprising. I just thought there would be some other way of doing it better. Not that I can think of one!!

    hmm tossing a coin seems fair but i don't think that a decision like this one should be decided this way...even though i can't think of alternatives!

    personally i think all elections should be scrapped and I should choose who becomes leader...was it winston churchill who said "The best argument against democracy is a five-minute conversation with the average voter"

    A council seat in England was decided on the toss of a coin.

    It went to the Tories.

    Haha, I'm amused by the fact that I was outraged by your comment, then I saw your location is in Scotland, and thought "ah thats ok then!" :D

    The 2 candidates should have a urine projection contest, the one who can pee the furthest away wins. Most politicians just take the piss anyway.
