When i was a teenager and worked in the City for a Stock Brokers, one of the directors of the firm used to live permanently in a suite at the Savoy!...... presumably they have a few people that do that!, but i haven't heard mention of this and what those people had to do in the 3 years its been closed?.......

I believe that Richard Harris lived at the Savoy, too.

I saw photos of the hotel after it was opened, I wasn't impressed at all.

No doubt everything is very expensive and top quality, but there are so many different styles/colours/patterns everywhere that I really didn't like it.

They took all the character out.

I'd rather stay in the Savoy than any of the Four in a Bed B&B's :D

Adam Faith who after his pop career was into financial dealing often used the foyer of the hotel as an "office" and held business meetings there.

In our teens in the late fifties before moving down to the clubs and coffee bars of Soho on a Saturday night, we used to frequent the American Bar at the Dorchester for a drink (one!)
It was never busy. Despite our ages, 17/18, being reasonably respectably dressed, our presence went unnoticed.

That`s where people `sit` and look around at how clean the BR is, we always were instructed to clean the ceilings in the Hotel rooms as thats the bit most people look at :D:D

As a butler you get to see the view that the customer see's rather than what the house staff just walking in and wiping down sees etc

Sean would drive me up the wall!

    "Kneel"

    "down"

    "down"

yeah and what was he thinking?

Because he said it was to have the same eye level that the customers sitting on the loo have and to make sure it had all been cleaned properly.......;)
