I've always wondered why the Nazca Lines were made - for what purpose? And why would you make such giant markings visible only from above if you had no means of flight?: it's bewildering to me.

Yes, indeed. Very mystifying. Oops don't think I spelt that right...it has been many years since English A level! :D

Maybe they didnt know that they were only visible from above and they had a weird and wonderful purpose.

I would tend to agree. But you never know

Oh yes, they are fascinating too!. I've seen lots of theories, some plausible about why they were put there (messages to gods to bring rain, for example) but not how, save for possibly done on a grid system so you had the small version on a grid then laid out a massive grid using stakes and rope and match the pattern. Or something.

But just amazing. I think South America is utterly fascinating. I'd love to go. Tales of the gold of Eldorado, of lakes full of gold, given as offerings to gods and human sacrifice. Though having seen Apocalypto, I don't think I would have liked to have actually lived there at the time!!

    I admit I haven't read the whole thread. :o

But I did a search, and see that the Meredith Kercher murder doesn't come up on this thread.

It really fascinates me, I'm currently reading the book 'Darkness Descending: The Murder of Meredith Kercher' by Paul Russell. Before reading the book, I had serious doubts about Amanda and Raffaele's guilt, but now having read most of the book.... I'm not so sure.....

I just don't know. To me it's one of those big mysteries where no-one will ever know what actually happened, other than those who were involved.

RIP Meredith. Too many books / articles skim over her memory.

Hi Gallovidian. I have read the Meredith Kercher case in great detail and believe the verdict for the three of them was spot on. I doubt we will ever know what truly happened because Amanda Knox will never admit her guilt. I'll buy the book, sounds interesting.

If the gable film is fake what is the thing in the film, its certainly not a human and like nothing else iv ever seen.

Which bigfoot film are you referring to? If its the patterson-gimlin film from the 60s (most famous bigfoot footage) then you are wrong.

I'm starting to think the same, Apple_Crumble. It's such a strange, weird case.

This one is particularly fascinating. It's as if written by Dan Brown.

I like the moscow metro one too, it's just the type of thing that might be in existance.

I love anything to do with the Cold War, it tends to bring out the mysterious because there's usually a motive for it, high up somewhere.

Agreed. I think the 'she didn't do it' theory is in part down to the Knox family's indignation, and the political support she received in the States (probably fuelled by the usual 'foreign justice systems are crooked and no way near as good as ours' sentiment that tends to bubble up regarding crimes abroad - read Madeleine McCann for another instance of this).

There was an article discussing various ruours about Royal affairs.

What intrigues me(apart from the paternity mysteries) is why a cabinet file due to be released last year hasn't been? I wonder if they have delayed its release or it never existed in the first place :o

I've been fascinated by the ancient astronaut theory recently - http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ancient_astronaut.

Great history channel documentary about it if anyone is interested - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=L2A12pmt0NY&feature=related

Whether there is any truth or not i don't know, but it fascinates me that we just don't know what has taken place on earth in the past. It certainly offers an interesting explanation for the start of religions and ancient monuments/artifacts etc that were built around the world.

And also UFOs in paintings that are hundreds of years old, thats freaky as well.

Woo- that's hot stuff. Doubtful we'll ever get the truth in our lifetime, though.

Ok well there are certain things on the net that interest me:

    1.hollow earth: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hollow_Earth

    2.http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/John_Titor

    3.http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sleep_paralysis

I now want to tell you about two things that have happened in my life and yes they are true.

When I was at school in year 9 on a friday afternoon, a kid in my IT class thought he was going to die on that weekend. He was seeing a girl and he was sure her ex was going to do him in. I told him he had nothing to worry about.........it turns out I was wrong he did die but in a different set of circumstances. (still makes me uneasy to this day).

The second case is equally screwed up, but it's more to do with my dad. We were selling one of my old bikes and a school friend along with his father came to look at it. To cut a long story short the father had murdered his wife. My dad answered the front door a week later and the murdered womans twin sister was at our front door (no one knew their was a twin by the way) to find out if the bike was still for sale, my mum said she had never seen my dad so lost for words.

    pretty mad eh?
