Just watched the cycling - as predicted, pretty much 100% Australian dominance. How are the mighty fallen. I can remember the days (just about two years 2 months ago, actually) when our second string was good enough to beat their best.

A lot of the best Brits are focusing on next month's European Championships which have implications for Olympic qualifying (the Comminwealths don't).

I bet the Aussies aren't complaining about winning gold in 'sitting down' sports (see Beijing).

    .

I know the reason, it's just not good for anyone's morale to get thrashed all the time.

Same as all of them, there has been utter apathy from the Indian fans. This must be costing somebody billions.

For the youngsters it's a chance to experience this type of event.

Absolutely ideal IMO and will pay dividends in 2016 - if not 2012.

    Re the lack of Crowds.

the elephant in the room is other venues are from nations with a heavy competitor presence.

Why would India go along and spend hard end rupees to watch other nations do well and stuff india?

( would the UK support an event where they are not participants ? )

Its hard enough to get the BBC to cover the rest of an event once England are put out LOL

Michael Johnson, Colin Jackson, Mark Foster, Thorpe and that BBC female racing correspondent...all in the studio.

5 out of 7..(Inverdale and Denise Louise were representing the minority). Its raining queens in the BBC these days.

That's a good result - as with the Cyclists our top Gymnasts are all missing as they are focusing on the World Championships which start next weekend, although interestingly the Aussies who won both the team competitions here have sent their A team.

I think you have a point there as there is no real history or tradition in India in many of the sports, although even the hockey seems to be struggling which is 1 sport that is popular in India.

Come London 2012 I am certain that the big Olympic sports & those sports where Britain has a tradition of success like Athletics, Swimming, Gymnastics, Cycling, Rowing, Hockey, Equestrian etc. will be packed out. However, you do wonder how well the ticket sales will go for sports like Handball.

Why this obsession with the sexuality of those involved in sport?

You know, I didn't know those people were gay, oddly enough it makes no difference now I do know, probably forget it by the end of the day in fact.

I guess you've got a thing about people's sexuality then.
Maybe you'll be giving us a rundown of the gay athletes who are competing too.

Clare Baldwin is the only one who is openly gay - the rest is conjecture.
