Because it was dropped by two different channels for poor viewership, and Sony were asking for far too much (because of the awards) to make the risk worthwhile for most mainstream channels.
Netflix have the premiere rights now though, possibly preventing any TV networks from picking it up, and Sony are releasing every season (up to 5 part 1) on Blu Ray Jun 3rd.
It has been aired on Ireland's TG4 channel, to some
success. They're on S5 of Breaking Bad now.
Season 3 episode 6 now. Those twin blokes are scary as hell.
Yeah. Have you seen the S3 DVD interviews with the
actors who play them? They're really easy-going, likeable blokes, nothing at all like their BB characters.

As nice as that is, I'm not Irish or Northern Irish, so I can't access it. And it's Ireland so the rights were probably cheaper than pan-UK and Ireland rights, which most channels would have to get.
I've been meaning to watch Breaking Bad (I saw the first few episodes), but I've never got round to it. And it didn't jump out at me from the very first episode the way Dexter (and to an extent Homeland) did...
all these channels and no-one shows Breaking Bad .
un....... believable
See my post 2 pages back or quoted above.
Is it really that hard to realise that if something flops twice it's unlikely to get picked up. I can think of only one example of where a show has gone through three different broadcasters, only to find success at the third. And that's How I Met Your Mother (which went through BBC Two and Trouble) before it found success on E4...
Its good, really good... But and its a biggie - It can some times feel like effort to watch and I'm up to date and have been waiting around 8 months for the second half of season 5 (the last season) to start.
It's a good series, has some really shocking moments - But if you wanted to watch a program that is more of the same but more awesome then I'd turn to 'Weeds'
Weeds is incredible, Its dark, funny, dramatic... Incredible!
I'd watch Breaking Bad after Weeds - You'll enjoy weeds more I guarantee it.
Is this a joke?
Weeds isn't fit to lick Breaking Bad's boots!!!
On the subject of "Breaking Bad": does anyone think the flack Skyler White gets from much of the BB fandom is unfair?
Sure, the character has flaws, especially in S1-she's nagging, and something
of a control freak (in the pilot, she gets annoyed when she doesn't know
where Walt was). But I do get that she loves her husband and her children,
and Anna Gunn gives a fine performance as Skyler. Any thoughts on
this?

I agree and all of those things that people hate about her makes her more attractive to me

Indeed. Also people complaining about Skyler
wanting to divorce Walt once she found out he was making drugs in S3. Surely most responsible parents would try to keep their kids away from anyone connected
with hard drugs, even if he is their father?

it was on 5* as I remember and they did zero promotion for it .

what other channel has it been on ?
I don't know the audience figures , do you ?
Season one was on FX. The ratings for it were apparently FAR lower those for those for the other American cable shows that FX had aired or were airing, hence FX not bothering with season two and it ending up on Five USA.
For those that haven't reached the end of season 4 yet ... you really don't want to read this massive spoiler . . .
Gustavo Fring meets his maker in a particularly gruesome way, by having half of his face blown off in an explosion!
The way he casually walks out of the blasted room with half his face missing then slumps down dead, is chilling!

Also, contractual obligations might provide a problem for any broadcast wanting to pick it up. Channel 5 were only able to get rights for one showing of the first series, and I know they had exclusive rights for season 2 (I don't know if the rights have expired yet or not). This could prove problematic for any broadcaster wanting to show it from the beginning...
I've just started watching this and have got up to half way through series 2. I've decided to wait and ordered the whole series 1-4 box set as I'm enjoying it so much. Hope I can wait till my delivery comes!
So where will we be able to watch the last 8 episodes of Breaking Bad later in the year? Do you think its guaranteed that Netflix will show them, perhaps not straight away but late in the year after the series has finished on US tv. I would love to see Netflix put all 8 episodes on in August but cant see this happening.
Comments
Season 5 part 2 (So the remaining 8 episodes) Starts of August 11th
I think it has!
