I am sorely tempted to read the books though feel I may need a notepad as there are so many characters/relationships to follow. Love the series.
The books have the characters listed in the back, so you can see who is allied to whom. There are also online resources such as http://awoiaf.westeros.org/ which keep track of characters through out the books. They can be a bit spoilery though if you read too far as I did! Still, that was my fault- I read about character's under the headings of books I hadn't read yet!

It is surely impolite to review an episode prior to showing on UK tv.
I thought that most people on this thread watched at US pace. If not I will refrain from posting anything until after the show has aired on UK tv. It wasn't exactly a review though. I only said that it was a good episode and that Dany looked great. The only potential spoiler was in saying that I felt sorry for Theon, but anyone who watched the preview after last week's show would have known that Theon's torment wasn't going to end any time soon!
There is another thread for UK pace HERE, this thread actually has the word SPOILERS in large friendly letters across the header
Spoilers are OK in the context of the book. Not, surely, in the context of an episode of the tv series not yet shown in the UK. If people are happy that spoilers include "US pace", rhen I shall withdraw from this thread, which is a pity for me as I enjoy the interraction between the series and the books.

I suppose we could just use spoilers tags here till it's shown in the uk
So..
Talisa is pregnant  Will she be killed in RW so it's could look even more tragic? Blackfish is traveling to the twins too so he will also be killed?
lets face it, some of us do want to know how the episode goes even after we have read the books
I want to know if my favorite character is going to put in a good appearance in the episode, if they are I will watch it as soon as its on, if not I record and watch later when I have more time

Something like that, I would definitely put in Spoilers until I was sure that most viewing the thread would have seen it!:)

In addition to what Kimotag said, if you own a Kindle, there are 'enhanced' versions of the books, which have every significant character handily linked to the aforementioned dramatis personae.
So if you've forgotten who Ser Vardis Egen is, you can just click his name to remind yourself of who he is before returning to reading.
I'm also very worried how they will handle Dany's story. While reading books i was thinking when she will finally travel to Westeros?! So the show viewers will be even more disappointed.
If necessary, they'll simply change her story. Her season 2/Qarth escapades were significantly altered.
Good episode. I thought that Dany looked particularly good this week, as did the dragons! Felt sorry for poor Theon though. Ouch!!
That's going to get more complaints from people who are irritated by the torture. I think it would have been even more brutal if they'd had the girls do it to him though...
Daenerys' scene with the Wise Master from Yunkai was awesome - she becomes more queenly with every episode. Visually, all of the stuff in Slavers' Bay this season has been exceptional.
Brienne and Jaime are quickly becoming one of my favourite parts of the show, just as they did in the novels. The bear and the maiden fair scene was really well done - it genuinely looked like she was being mauled.
The whole Orell and Ygritte love triangle thing is a nice deviation from the books - it adds another element to Jon and Orell's mutual hatred. Orell also implies something about Jon's other gifts in this episode - will also be interesting to see if the non-book readers will put two and two together.

The 'G.O. T is porn' brigade won't be too happy either!

True, but... I don't give two of Olenna's figs what they think.
I think they've probably made their minds up about that already - this won't sway them much either way. The length of Theon's torture will fuel new criticism though.
Sansa's maturation is as annoyingly glacial as the books. Even though Margaery's openly discussing sex with her, she still doesn't cotton on to the fact that it's because the cherry of Highgarden has well and truly been popped. I had sort of hoped that Marge would be more influential in mentoring Sansa and expanding her political brain before she's whisked away by Littlefinger, but alas, it doesn't seem like it will be.
I think Talisa's letter writing in a foreign tongue now definitively signals that she is not to be trusted - I think she's a maegi who will betray Robb at the Red Wedding.

Personally, I don't think that it's overdone, even though last night's show did make what was implicit in the books, quite explicit! That said, I hope that we don't see any more. Most viewers get the picture by now- Theon is being held by a sadist. Time for the big reveal of his identity!
I'm surprised, because I expected epic things from this season. And although its been pretty good, I'm finding it a bit slow going now. I think they will be saving most of the good stuff for the end of the season, and S4 though.
Storm of Swords is my favourite of the books though.
I'm wondering what on Earth they are going to do with a lot of these characters as the show goes on. Since many of them don't have all that much left to do e.g. Bran, Arya, Theon. And there is a lot of time left to fill. It seems like a lot of the stories are being pushed forward, but I wonder how it'll all fit together. Should be interesting.
I think next season will see a divergence from the books, considering the huge gap in appearances some of the characters focused in the TV series have.
Talisa writing a letter seems suspicious (or not?)..there were theories that she could be Lannisters spy..so maybe she was writing not for her mother but for Tywin?
The glacial pace of the books is being too kind, I think half time Martin's doesn't have a clue so describes the color of peoples boots.
I'm glad the cut down of Catelyn's father dying and it goes on and on the book and never seems to end.
Martin's need a editor who is will to reign him and because there is who chapters which could be edited out and it wouldn't make much difference.
I'm almost finished enduring book 4 and will stop reading the series after that.
Dances with dragons is much better, so persevere! I actually think that with the next few books George will be more focussed. For a start he will be drawing all the threads together and also he will have the show breathing down his neck creating a deadline; something he hasn't had in the past!
So another change from the book with Talisa being pregnant (probably ).
So unless Talisa is lying about everything and is a Lannister Spy (which means she did tell the truth about that ) then I can see two fates for her.
She's going to die along with R + C at the RW or
She's going to be the shows Fake Arya. Rather than dig up a fake Arya the Boltons marry Talisa to Ramsay claiming they will bring up the baby as Lord of the North. Of course their plan would be to kill of Talisa and the child once they were secure in their power.
Good point about the Blackfish going to the Twins as well, maybe he'll manage to escape and get back to Riverrun or possibly join up with the BwB and their upcoming new leader.

Its the authors style. An editor for what exactly? I suppose it would be possible for the series to read like a Lee Child Novel, the job of the editor would be ask him if he read any Reacher then give him a stack of them to improve his writing skills.
