They are blocking porns only because of the xxx production companies don't make as much money anymore selling blue movies on dvd's and vhs as they used to. Back in the 80's and 90's, if you wanted to watch a porn, you'd have to buy it on either vhs or dvd and it was expensive. Today, it's enough to type "free porn" in Google, and voilà, you can watch as much porn as you like for free.

The government now wants to prevent us from watching free porns on the Internet and they use child pornography as an excuse. David Cameron said Google should prevent child abuse image searches from showing in Google. Dear Mr. Cameron, peadophiles don't use google to search for obscene material. They use usenet lists, closed forums and torrents.

I see all this as a try to instill Internet censorship. Once you start blocking things online, it will be very hard to stop, as politicians will always find an excuse for something to be blocked.

Complete waste of time and will stop nothing at all

so merely a means to get a list of "naughty" men

the whole "think of the children" angle is bogus

Tia sharp and April jones killers were known to them

child "stranger murder" has been fairly static since figures began in the 1950s about 10 year

99% of kiddie porn is generated by a close family member

and they swap with others like them via private encrypted networks

so all in all a total waste of time

just more nanny state encroaching on the publics life

men look at porn always have done always will do

    doesnt make them peados

We are the laughing stock of the world. Again. First it was arresting people who posted their opinions on Twitter and now we have huge censorship of every adult's life because of moral panic and hysteria. Conservatives OUT
Labour backs the proposals, again attempting to link child abuse with all forms of pornography. Notice the NSPCC spokeswoman on BBC Breakfast this morning was also doing the same thing.

So how do you stop a 15yr old buying a pay as you go Sim for his smartphone, GiffGaff or whatever, and then calling up to have the porn unblocked ~ it's not workable.
From what I remember of giffgaff's adult filters, you must provide a passport or driving licence number before they'll allow the individual access to any "adult" content, including discussion forums. I couldn't even access Martin Lewis' MoneySavingExpert website for goodness sake!

Why go to the trouble when you can just opt in?
How can you legally prove that the actors and actresses have given consent in any video or picture you view, considering that media which doesn't imply consent (in a legal framework Cameron will need to clarify) will be illegal?

VPNs, Tor and other forms of encrypted, anonymous connection techniques are going to be a lot more popular in the future to evade the law. Not just for pornography, but for the likes of piracy and other wares.

I'd also bet the forthcoming birth of the Royal Baby will be of delight to Cameron, who can sneak in whatever he likes as everyone else's attention is diverted away to see the baby.

.. apart from, apparently, your husband watching porn ..

If that were true, it would mean your husband has apparently told you he never watches porn and never masturbates.

I suspect he's also told you he doesn't like football and beer either ;)

I was thinking the same thing :p I mean, I like to think me and my girlfriend share most things, but sharing EVERYTHING?! I doubt there's anyone on the planet that shares everything, even if you think they share everything with you, how could you possibly know?! And it's not like you're with them 24/7 either.

I think it's fine and normal to have things you keep private.

You see this as an effort to provide financial growth in the adult film sector?

The most popular provider of pornographic (debatable I suspect) content via television platforms including via digital terrestrial television (not Freeview, it's behind a paywall) also owns Channel 5, the Daily Express, the Health Lottery and the Daily Star - a newspaper which includes a topless model on page 3 - just like the newspaper owned by a certain Mr R Murdoch.

Lol. I bet she does though :D /image you didn't want.

But yeah, I didn't think of that. Not to mention that this doesn't seem to just be porn, but it's a general "family friendly filter". It's being pushed along with the anti-child porn stuff to make it more palatable to the Daily Mail brigade.

In which case it will backfire.

I can well imagine that there are many who would be too embarrassed to call and ask for access to pornography to be enabled, but would have no such problems in requesting the removal of a "family-friendly" filter.

By the look of some thread titles on here, DS itself may well be filtered out.

They honestly don't understand the internet, are they going to filter usenet and IRC. What about VPNs, going to block that completely or something?

Whether it's right or wrong, it's simply unworkable. There is no magic filter you can plug in.

Agreed, which is why the whole thing is so ridiculous, because responsible parents will still have to use additional software or monitoring measures to prevent their children viewing porn. It's almost as if the whole thing wasn't actually about protecting kids, and was actually about giving the impression of having done something whilst conveniently creating a list of perverts to add to all the other information the government is collecting about its citizens without their knowledge or consent.

Yeah and he's a bad cold for the last few years. That's why you find all these hard tissues in the bin next to his computer.

That's the thing. I don't believe anything because I don't know for sure what people think, or what they do when I am not there, and neither do you.

If porn is blocked on the internet it will not change my life at all. It seems it will have a life changing affect on some men on this thread

Excellent article on Cameron's proposals, mirroring the questions I have on the impending creep being used which could see pornography being made illegal as well as search engine word blocks being extended beyond 'child abuse':

    http://paulbernal.wordpress.com/2013/07/22/10-questions-about-camerons-new-porn-blocking/

Dangerous times for liberty and freedom, all under the guise to protect 'the innocence of children'.

TBF though it's not really going to be banned is it if you want it all you have to do is ask I would guess that you will even be able to get it unblocked on line.

As said it's not even going to be difficult to bypass it the same way everybody who uses torrent sites bypass the block on that.

It won't matter to me as I have porn sites blocked anyway as porn isn't really my thing I don't really like seeing sex and nudity.

Though it is said some LGBT sites may be blocked sand as a Asexual belong to some but as a Asexual I will find it quite funny if the Asexual sites I use are blocked as the members there the last thing most want to see is porn

I'd suggest you re-read Cameron's proposals. They go far beyond child abuse and pornography.
