Im always a bit bemused to see posters fretting whether or not the public will choose to vote for someone who'll help Simon Cowell get a bigger yacht... or not. Ive never voted myself, but for those who do, I'd say if they choose to spend their money, it should be on giving someone they personally like, a leg up, to enable them to launch some kind of career, rather than feeling they should be voting because they're told an act, like them or not, will 'sell records' - i.e. fit a niche for Syco.
So, the person a voter likes like may not be the person Cowell wants, because the person they like may not be 'current' enough to become a global star and make him loads more dosh and extend his influence. But perhaps the person the voter likes can get some kind of attention/fanbase to start a career in music, through the exposure. Thats the only worth I can see in voting in this the show TBH. Cowell is rich enough really isn't he? And lets face it, if the public choose not to do as they're told and give the shiny added endorsement to his chosen money machine each year, he just ignores them anyway and promotes the acts he can milk the hardest. So Id say if you have to vote, vote for who you like best and don't worry about 'getting it wrong' for Simon.
Not sure why it bothered him - he had obviously given orders for the Judges to keep her in. I thought Sharon's comment on Xtra Factor proved that when she spoke about KR. Just my opinion.
I don't think he realises that people have to be likeable in order to actually get votes. Tamera isn't. She isn't going to be a pop star if she isn't liked.

Is she less likeable than Cher Lloyd, then, whose career so far must have helped swell Simon's coffers? It's a serious question about likability - I've yet to see anything not to like in either Tamera or Cher, but they seem to come in for quite similar forms of detraction.

I, personally, never found Cher Lloyd to be anything she was made out to be, she always came across as quite reserved and scared to me. But, lets not make out she has been hugely successful here in the UK. She had a number 1 (which wasn't number 1 because it was a good song), a follow up number 4, and a number 6 (I think?) album. Her success in the US was down to her hard work she put in over there. Cher Lloyd, however, was in a completely different league when it comes to new, fresh talent than Tamera is now.
Lucie Jones is doing quite well for herself. She may not be a recording artist but she has plenty of stage work being thrown her way on top of a modelling contract or 2.
Jedward, however, are still making lame efforts to be taken more seriously, they no longer have a recording contract and are taking just about any scratchy role that comes their way.
I wish I could bake a cake full of rainbows and smiles.
I'm not allowed to wear hoop earrings you know, yeah two she told me they were her thing and I'm not allowed to wear them. And then for Hannuahka my parents got me this pair of really expensive white hoops earrings and I had to pretend I didn't like them...it was so sad....
I could totally see Sam Callahan as Karen though."Yeah, my abs can tell when it is raining,"
Except he makes these said contestants sell millions. People buy these records - I don't think those millions of people lack good music taste. It's 'pop' music for a reason.;)
That raises such an interesting set of issues. In some ways, we define "taste" to mean discernment - those with taste are the ones who can select the good from the ordinary. To have taste must require you to chose something most people don't or the term taste would have no meaning. Of course, in economics terms, it isn't a perfect market - punters don't know about all the music that's out there and they can only like what they hear. As the BBC and commercial radio are largely complicit in making sure that the casual listener only gets exposed to a narrow range of musical styles this makes it impossible for those listeners to truly demonstrate taste. For some types of music, exposure is not enough, appreciation actually requires effort.
Mass-market food is distinguished by the need for consistency. McDonald's standardize everything - you always get exactly the same in any of the hell-holes they call restaurants; no matter where you are in the world. To achieve this, and keep the costs within easy reach, McD's uses processes which remove all skill from food preparation. Mass-market music is the same, no skill or talent or flair goes into making it.

I'd rather be in Lucie's shoes.
That's a bit harsh - they have their own show on CBBC, Jedward's Big Adventure. They've just finished filming the third series, which is going to have 10 episodes this time, whereas the first two series only had five, so it seems it must be popular.
I can't think of any other scratchy roles they have taken lately?
Simon can bang on about potential 'star' all he likes, she's not likeable and for that reason she will not win the x factor...Sam or Nicholas will probably win it
^^ Jedward's treatment during the show pretty much precluded them from a serious crack in the UK music industry. Most of their music success seems to come from continental Europe and Ireland.

Exactly right. People on here have very vivid imaginations.

Probably dead right, but Simon Cowell often, as far as I can see, has an eye on what could happen post show. Personally I cannot see either Sam B or Nicholas selling big amounts (good luck to them if they do though!).
So the question could be framed: what's better winning the show or having some sort of decent career post show? They are not at all mutually exclusive of course but it seems there's often someone very voter friendly ( Christopher, Mary, Leon, Joe )who is not seen as post show "star/commercial in the sense of popstar" material.
There is only one winner folks, and that is Tamera. TAT
I'm starting to think that the perceptions circulating about Tamera being arrogant and entitled are more the result of the attitudes displayed by her fans.

He saw money in them. John and Edward are weirdly in the top ten most succesful acts to emerge out of X Factor. And I'm not even a fan...:o

agreed. i find her quite dull tbh.

Do you even go to this forum?
Their point still stands. Lucie had the better voice, Jedward had more potential to make money, and that's clearly where his priorities lie.
Also, I personally think "mythical legends" is just slightly over doing it.

"Tamera will win with the largest percentage ever"
"Tamera will never be bottom 2"
Yeah, you're right. People do.
I'd respond but I'm almost too gay to function.
It was Gary, Louie and Sharon that got it wrong.
They should have kept the group.
Your username is AMAZING. Please tell me you're named after Katie Waissel's infamous sing-off performance?!
