Why are about 10 passports all in one pile in a pic shown on news websites.
Surely they would not all land in the same spot like that considering most would be in bags anyway. Unless someone has collected them and photographed them.
They often move or even add things to make scenes look even more dramatic (As if human life being lost isn't enough) Like placing a childs doll on a crash site to add to the drama
So someone probably moved them and the snapped a pic
4 French and 23 US plus others. Going on vacation so Richard Quest said, which could be the case, and maybe some going back home to Malaysia. Although no firm data re how many US citizens were on the plane.
The Ukraine interior minister claimed over 300 died along with these 23 US citizens. I would take these reports with a pinch of salt, the Sky News reporter suggested that it may well be propaganda to irritate/upset the Americans for political purposes.
Well, AMS to KUL would be a reasonable route for anyone flying from the east coast of the US to SE Asia or onwards to Australia. Unlike MH370, I'd expect to see victims from many countries.
This makes it harder for the US and other countries to keep out of what is happening in Ukraine.
The German Airline which I cant spell also said it was only now changing routes.
Virgin Atlantic said it was changing some routes tonight implying it had been flying over Ukraine before now.
Indeed, and for those who are saying that Malaysian Airlines cannot be held responsible, it was ultimately their decision for the flight to take that flight path.
Sky News also mentioned this about an hour ago - other airlines avoid the area but Malaysian Airlines and a couple of other Eastern Airlines had been until today.
Major airlines, including Air France, continued to fly over the area.
And it seems so did Virgin and others who have just announced changes to their routes.

So why are Virgin & Lufthansa saying they will now be rerouting all aircraft away from the conflict zone.

Would anyone on the East cost fly via Europe to Asia. Surely it would be cheaper going via the pacific.
BBC just showed a clip of Obama speaking at a fundraising event. He was pretty quick to move on from the subject and crack a few jokes. Guess you have to ligthen the mood somehow.
and our british government being incisive in saying it's QUITE A CONFUSED PICTURE!!!
should have just shut the hell up
>:(
What else are they supposed to say? If they say nothing people will be wanting to know why. I'd rather they made a statement saying the situation was confused than try to guess or make shit up.
Why are they to refereed being "separatists" weren't they Russian's who came over the boarder masquerading as such? And it was obviously them they've been gloating about shooting down Ukrainian military planes for the last two weeks.
Shooting down a commercial airliner, although by mistake, is a massive own goal for their cause.

KLM itself was also apparently using the same route.
It has been reported by people who looked at previous flightpaths for the aircraft and says that the routing is normally further south - but that it isn't unusual for the route to be different because of weather conditions

If it was them it is the end of their cause. If 23 USA citizens have been killed, you know the USA public won't stand for that and robust action will be demanded. This wouldn't be any Syria or Libya. For the US and also British public this would be Russian's (even though they are not technically) killing Western citizens.

Hopefully it will shock the combatants into saying enough is enough and start genuine talks to solve the situation peacefully.

Yes, but other airlines had chosen to re-route following the incident on Monday, but Malaysian Airlines didn't.

But he's clearly stated which 'side' he's on.
He was at a conference, when the news came through, so I'd say he was at the tail end of his speech, when he had to give another re the plane.
Maybe they felt they had rerouted enough, But with this today they are going even further out of the way
It was at the start of the speech.

I don't know. I was only posting what Sky News said an hour or so ago, obviously they were wrong!
Turkish Airlines and Aeroflot have just announces changes to their routes too.

Our goverment is a joke to the world.
