I would go, I don't see family much so I make sure we go to all family events, we missed one which was Christmas night 2010 but we both had swine flu so I think it's fine we were absent then
So you do normally get invited to family events? Meh - balls to 'em. Weddings are shite at the best of times.
I now want to find a man and get married myself just to hire the little hamster band.
Jeez, could you imagine turning up to a wedding you hadn't been invited to and just awkwardly sitting there anyway.
Oh yeah, you just waltz in to a wedding you weren't asked to attend. ........as welcome a wet fart in a lift.......making the bride and groom feel uncomfortable.
It's their day not yours so stop whining and sounding so desperate.

If your real life interactions with people are the same as they are on here I'm not surprised you didn't get an invite. I would be incredibly hurt if this happened to me but it would make me take a hard look at myself, maybe its time for you to make some changes if you don't want to be left out of life? If you are still determined to stick to your chosen lifestyle you can't really blame people for not wanting you around.
If I had a disabled relative who needed help feeding and drinking I wouldn't mind them attending any social function, but if I had one who pretended that they did to get free money I would definitely cross them off the list.
Sorry this is a bit harsh for first thing in the morning. Except it is tea time or so for you isn't it,with your upsidedown sleeping.

I don't see why I should change my lifestyle to make others happy while making myself miserable
Its not about making other people happy.it is displaying sociable traits that indicate to other humans how you interact with wider society. If your family see you living like a reclusive shut in with no desire to improve your life, take suggestions on board without becoming aggressive and especially exaggerating your physical problems, I'm not surprised they decided not to ask you. If you are happy with the way you live you have to accept that part of that includes how other people see you and respond to you.

How would you cope with you OH interacting with female guests? Maybe dancing with them if you went to the evening bit. From what you've described there's a reason not to invite you right there, if there's a chance you two will start brawling like those couples you see outside Wetherspoon pubs.
My cousins getting married later in the year, we (OH and I) aren't invited to the day time which is fair enough, money and numbers etc
Found out today though that we aren't invited to the night time either as its the same people as the daytime who'd going and they aren't having a typical night do (disco etc) they are having a singer and a grand piano
I feel annoyed cause my dad and sister are invited but we aren't, my sister said she didn't think it was our thing as we would have to buy suits (so?) and that the place is really posh (again so?) she also said some partners weren't invited, I'm family though and other family have been invited
I know people will probably say I'm in the wrong being pissed off but I can't help how I feel, nice to know what my family really think of me!
Life's too short.
Just shrug & forget about it.
Too much 'real' shit happening in the world for this meandering inconsequential B.S. to make any difference.
You happy with your life, or striving to be ?
If the answer is 'YES'..then to hell with getting your knickers in a twist over such mundane matters ;-)
You do seem to avoid going anywhere, not wanting to leave your flat. You said last night that you won't talk face to face with people. I'd bet your cousin knows this and thought that 1) It's a wasted invite when it could go to someone who would definitely turn up and 2) not wanting to put you in the position of feeling obliged to go.
If you made more effort to be sociable I'm sure you'd be invited to more social events.
Also, I'd totally forgotten about Dime bars.
Ive come very late to this thread and havent read all of it but I would be willing to bet my house, that if Tinks had been invited, she would have been straight on here saying that she is now going to have to say no to the invite as her cousin expects her to buy a suit and wear formal clothes and she's a rock chick dont you know and doesnt do that sort of outfit and anyway she will be in a lot of pain for the evening do and they cant afford to get cabs all that way to the wedding/do location and anyway they are busy that night and she should have given more notice and anyway she doesnt get on with half the people that are going and anyway she doesnt want her OH mixing with other women, blah blah blah
Sorry Tinks, but I have had the mispleasure of countless of your threads about how you feel about various members of your family and even your OH and quite frankly I can see why your cousin didnt invite you, you probably give off an air of not wanting to socialise or be with them.
Now, I dont have a problem with that, I dont like parties and formal occasions either, but if I wasnt invited to something I would be relieved, not moaning about it.

What is your lifestyle people keep referring to?
No...
She says that she drinks water by the pint/can't list a fork and needs her partner to feed her and help her drink.
Aside from staying in I do none of that
Seems to type alright. ...... unless she's got a gadget like Stephen Hawking.......
