Sounds exciting, although I don't like boats!

I'm assuming it's the same boat - I saw it come aground on the coast of Wales in 1981 after it had hit wreckage under the water - the captain steered it onto the beach we were on to save the passengers as it was sinking fast - saved everybody! (although I seem to remember that one passenger died of a heart attack)

ooooo I did not know that :o

I've edited the post - it seems it was a sister ship to the Waverley, the Prince Ivanhoe that we saw... :-)

So, you only lost 5.5 lbs in the couple of months since you started the diet threads? (given the fact that you said you'd already lost 19.4 pounds since Jan and your inch loss is taken from Jan so presumably total weight loss is too!)

Given that most diets should give a 1-2lb weight loss per week, it's not great - shows that calories in/calories out is not as 'simple' as you think! I reckon you are estimating your daily needs too high given your lack of activity.

What you were eating on your 'diet' was high in 'bad' calories and you would have had more success replacing those calories with better ones which may have filled you up more - crisps and choc etc. don't do that!

This was a constant theme on the body building forums because she would do a few lifts or whatever they are called, a bit of half hearted wii-ing and think that her calorie use per day was something like 2500. Everyone was always going on about how she had calculated her allowance but she wouldnt have it. (although she did have her cake and eat it too)

    Love the chawner show! :D

We didnt have the sky channel so used to go round to visits ohs grandparents when it was on and we would all be laughing non stop at it.

There was one scene where the mother was farting with each step she took up the stairs. I do think it was quite surreal though how she had no sense of dignity when she happily revealed on tv that she wets herself because she got so obese she couldnt help it but didnt see any point in making changes to stop herself doing it.

Didnt the parents and one of the kids share a bed too, and the other kids had the small room?

I wish i could watch it right now.

jeesus, what the hell was that?

This made me laugh out loud. Some people do long term on 5:2, to be honest its just calorie reduction as far as Im concerned, if you do it properly you also have calorie restrictions on the non fast days, eating 500 cals twice a week is just misery as far as Im concerned.

Clean eating is better than eating smaller quantities of crap than you used to a couple of times a week.

You aren't really restricted on the other days, you eat maintenance, that to me is better than eating 1200-1500 seven days a week!

We all have our opinions though, some like 5:2 some don't

I have had an absolutely brilliant idea for a Channel 5 series. After Katie Hopkins has lost all her weight she can turn her attention and expertise on Tinks. I would love to see that ,like a diet versipn of Clash of the Titans. And my money would be on Tinks to win,I think she's more stubborn than Katie.

There must be someone reading this who works in telly and could make it happen.

I think I would end up punching her, can not stand her

Tinks reminds me of that Chawner family they like to revel in misery and like any kind of attention and think the world is against them

I don't think the world is against me

It's really difficult to find an accurate idea of your basic resting calorie needs - I've put in my details to several sites today and got anywhere between 1700 and 2100 calories. It would be easy to think, oh I'll go for the 2100 then, but if my ACTUAL needs are nearer the 1700, then I'm eating 400 more calories a day than I need, which would put on a pound of fat every 10 days or so! :o

Thats what happened, they criticised that the specific method she used was the one that always comes back with the highest calculation. Personally I go for a mid range and underestimate the amount of activity I do so that I dont get a nasty shock.

Hello all. Been a while and I didn't know we moved. I thought the thread vanished  I hope everyone is okay :)

So everything is still going good. I went away for 5 days and I walked everywhere. No anxiety stopping me but it tried on Saturday. Afterwards I decided to keep it up rather than going back to taxis. Gets me fit and healthy too so win win. Kidney still going strong so that's great too and I won money from a bet :D £50 but I'm happy.

Unfortunately it hasn't all been good. I pulled a shoulder muscle 2 weeks ago, last week I had a gum infection and now I have a cold. I also got a letter from the hospital for an eye test. Glaucoma I might have which is pretty scary as I went on Google (daft thing to do) and it seems worse case scenario is losing my sight. Naturally I'm nervous for my appointment but hopefully it's a case of needing eye drops then all sorted. I'm not letting it get me down but I'm sure I'll have days leading up where I'll have myself worked up and convinced I'm going blind.

My mum has glaucoma, she's had it for about 10 years, and she's not gone blind. She does have to use eyedrops every day though. And because she has it, I get free eyetests, woohoo!

There was a diet show hosted by lorraine kelly i think it was years ago where overweight families got help from a diet and excerise specialist who helped them all to lose weight. The chawners were on one episode and they were so surreal. The stuff reality shows dream of!

They were all obese, wouldnt listen to the experts and i think argued that trifle was one of their five a days. They ended up with a spin off documentary series following them at home. It was weird. The dad was a carer to the mum but never left the sofa. Nor did the mum to be fair. They all ate sausages a lot (even the parrot) and didnt do much else. The house was a cramped hovel and was disgusting.

The two daughters were always arguing and like ebony were always trying to lose weight but never actually seemed to do anything to try and lose weight. When one lost a pound the other would be really bitchy and then theyd both end up putting on more weight!

Cant remember what it was called but i think it was on sky living.

Sorry to read that about your mom Frankie yes good that you get free eye tests but bad you could get glaucoma hubby is a risk from that. My daughter in law and I suffer from herpes simplex on the eye, daughter in law has just had a cornea replacement, but I do not know till I go to the hospital after my holiday if they will give me one, do I want on not sure, that is something I will after think about.

Oh dear I have just googled them and realise that it was the overweight girl in the awful dress on X factor that she said her dad made for her. It was from then on that I stopped watching x factor at the audition stage because taking people with some sort of special need (in their case probably social and emotional behavioural needs) for entertainment is not my idea of a saturday night in.

Yeah wasnt she in the news because she would stay up late "singing" and the neighbours complained? Im sure the family got an asbo or something for it.

Then the other sister had a job but got arrested for assault or something.

I get your point that it does seem wrong that they are portrayed like that but i think if they are willing to be in their own tv show and get paid for it then they bring it upon themselves. There was a brother who refused to be on it so was always out of the house when the camera crew were there because he didnt want people associating him with them.

I believe they started an argument with katie whatsherface on one of those daytime chat shows, because she was outraged at how many benefits they received.
