Are you one of those people who let people in when other cars are behind you?

It really pisses me off when people do this. Let people in on your own time if you want but not mine.

On whose authority do you feel you have the right to make me wait just to make you feel better "good" about yourself. I would make it an official traffic offense the same as parking on double yellow lines.

Yes I am. I also let pedestrians cross as well if it is a crossing or not.

    Get over it.

Depends. If the traffic is flowing freely then I won't let anyone out because they can just wait till there's a gap.

But if the traffic is queuing (e.g. up to a roundabout/junction) then I pretty much always let the person in. If no one did, they could be sat there for ages! It's only polite and it really pisses me off when no one will let me in.

    Yes I certainly am .
I live on a country lane and to get out of it onto the main road is murder.
No one apart from the occasional one will let you in, so I know what it is like sitting there waiting for some kind driver to let you in.
So if I see anyone waiting to get into the main stream of traffic I always let them in.

Sorry rufusrain if it makes you cross.

You do do an awful lot of moaning rufusrain, is it a hobby of yours.

If it's queuing I let one in. If people are doing the same it moves quick enough.

I refuse on principle for the ones who sneak along the empty lane and try to sidle in at the last minute.

What right do you have to demand that they do what's best for you or put you ahead of those they allow in?

Why does what you want trump everybody else?

Yep, I let other cars in and I let pedestrians cross, especially if it's raining.

And by what right do you consider that people should not be as decent as they are?

Miserable buggers getting wound up about this, need to be legislated against.

Well there wouldn't be much point in stopping to let someone in if there were no cars behind you...

I do it especially to annoy idiots.
I also let people cross the road at crossings, and even when there isn't one!

That and it's about the best way to help keep traffic flowing in a lot of situations, as if you don't let people in from the side roads (especially in slow moving traffic etc), it can easily end up with queues rapidly building up and making things worse.

Rufous is worried that if he has to brake suddenly because of the stupid driver in front he'll struggle to stop with his overweight girlfriend on board and his Viagra tabs will scatter all over the floor.

I usually make a judgement based on who arrived first me or the car waiting to pull out.

I get more pissed off with the idiots that don't let you in, or decide to block you so you can't get out...all because they are a little impatient and to self absorbed in their own little bubble.

Exactly. Agree with you. However I do hate it if you're kind enough to let them out and they don't even bother to acknowledge you! Like not a quick thanks etc..

    I know what you mean..
I've accidently blocked people a few times and have had to sit there holding my head in shame and willing the lights to change quickly!

No, because I don't drive- but my husband does, because he is a polite gentleman that hopes someone would do the same for him.

Morons who moan should leave a few minutes earlier. I'm going to do it more now, in the small chance the op might be behind me.

Well yes that's the point of letting someone in.. If there were no other cars behind you, the car would just be able to come in after you so you'd have no reason to let them in.

Lol. Well exactly. I live in London, and there are always cars behind me. Because I like to live within the bounds of human decency, I let drivers out of drives, junctions or parking places, allow, within reason, people to cross the road, as long as there is not a pelican crossing 10 yards away, allow children to retrieve their balls and allow plenty of time for pigeons to get out from the danger zone. Sometimes it gets a little tedious, but someone like the OP in the car behind would brighten the process up considerably.

I hope you decline to be let out when a courteous driver motions for you to come out, rufus.
You do just sit there and shake your head in a curt refusal, don't you?

What would be the point of letting someone in if there's nobody behind you  You could simply carry on and they could pull out after you pass.
