Clintons faces backlash over 'shameful' Christmas card – 'Why Santa Claus must live on a council estate'
Clintons has provoked outrage with a festive card on its website that details the 10 reasons Santa Claus “must live on a council estate”.
The classist card, which costs £2, features a picture of a tower block and Father Christmas, with the cover message: “10 reasons Santa Claus must live on a council estate…”
Inside the card the 10 “reasons” Santa Claus apparently lives on a council estate are listed and include such offensive stereotypes as: “He has a serial record for breaking and entering” and “He’s never actually been seen doing any work in his whole life”.
'Why Santa Claus must live on a council estate'
* He wears the same, out of fashion clothes everyday and never washes them
* He’s never actually been seen doing any work in his whole life
* He has a serial record for breaking and entering
* He drinks alcohol during working hours
etc etc...

Good, it just goes to show that classism is alive and well in UK 2014.
I can remember kids at school often being bullied and mocked for living in social housing, it made their lives a nightmare. Doing such is horrible.
Vile snobs.
WTF has this got to do with the season of goodwill. Mocking the poor, yea, way to go, Merry Christmas.

Many people find being offensive funny.
That's ok then. There's bigger things happening in the world. I might see if my local Clintons have got a few I can buy on the cheap.
This statement would of course carry more weight if I had a Christmas card list.
Having lived on plenty of council estates myself, I also found it quite funny
Just hope they let you in, and you're not stereotyped as a criminal due to your social status, which is what they are doing to sections of people here.
I would have expected better from Bill and Hillary.
Did Clintons ban people from council estates from entering their shops?
Clintons should be closed down immediatley and the person who decided that this would make a funny Christmas card, should be flogged publicly and made to apologise to everyone who lives in social housing.
Outrageous >:(>:(
I'm shocked it took 10 posts for this joke to appear!!!

It's funnier than the card though.
Lack of social mobility, much of which is due to class prejudice, is actually a huge issue and problem in this county.
It's all reflective. A tiny display of a much bigger troubled picture.
It sure is
But having lived on council estates all my entire life, I don't find it that offensive or object to it, if somebody wants to list their thoughts on a card and other people want to buy it, good luck to them. I've no problem with that.
Just come away with the belief that you're better than them and that's the best way to deal with it. It reads as if it has been written by a thick shit anyway.
You're clearly offended, why repeat what you find offensive?
Then again, she is a total snob who tries hard to forget she spent the first 18 years of her life in a council house and now looks down on anyone who does live there.
Glad its been taken off the shelves
I live in a very socially deprived area, and that card would sell a lot better here than in the middle class enclaves of North London.
Can't say I'm outraged, grew up in social housing, did for years.
Then again as someone who did, I can see it as a joke, others might take it more seriously as a reflection if Council housing.
The demonisation of Council/Social housing has been going on for years, baby out with the bath water.
Maybe if more of those who did grow up in Council housing 'stood up' for it a little more, when it and it's residents get a slagging.
