It's my fault - I said earlier that I'd take anything as long as it was uptempo.

But I was talking about Sweden not the UK, dammit.

    I know :(

I'm just trying my hardest not to be a negative nelly!

I seriously hate it though. By far the worst UK entry for me (based on first listen) since TSGTM

Worse for me as I had empathy for Josh at least.

I suddenly don't feel so bad about missing the final :D

How hilariously bad are the lyrics too? Rhyming sneezes with diseases!!

Oh well - always next year. I think, if anything else, we've spared the blushes of France :D

On the plus side, it's a cute song. It's catchy and camp and is our first 'fun' entry this year.

On the negative side our act is made up of a Voice auditionee who didn't get a single judge turn around (!!!) and a Mick Jagger impersonator. It's also a major downfall from our effort last year. I feel it was loads of suspense built up to a damp squib.

    What a massive let down.

The melody gets stuck in your head, that's for sure!

Well when you've got Funeral da Canção in the background, anything would. :p

Didn't the Germans enter a similar song in 2009, and that came near the bottom IIRC?

'Miss Kiss Kiss Bang' came sixth from last - although that was more straightforward swing and less quirky in an electro way than this one.

The comparison that came to my mind when I first heard this was the Austrian entry 'Y Asi' in 2005.

Surely one of the songs out of the 300 was a chart like, modernish song?

Katie Taylor, UK Controller of Entertainment Production says:

I am certain Electro Velvet will dazzle in Vienna for Eurovision's Diamond Anniversary and do the UK proud.

She never goes away, does she :D

Dear Katie should really stick to Strictly Come Dancing.

I can just see the producers opening the show with the UK - something which doesn't have a chance but will wake everyone up before the competition proper. We had the final position last year so can hardly complain.

    Er... not it definitely won't.
if the license fee renewal happens during a Tory government then it certainly could as the Tory supporting media will have a fairly large influence and Eurovision will be one of their big targets as it would be a easy target and away to criticise Europe, foreigners and immigrants all in one.
If You Gov did a poll on if Britain should withdrew 60-80% would sadly be for it.

I don't know what Freeman was thinking. Retro is fine but not for this type of 1920s swing effort......it almost sounds like a pastiche or parody.

I can't understand why they didn't showcase the song on The Voice.

In his Blog, Guy Freeman said they received songs that were good enough to be commercial tracks straight away...

....and we've ended up with this.
