Peter O'Toole, Sophia Loren and James Coco in a period musical film that revolves around an imprisoned Spanish nobleman's tale of Don Quixote.
I can't grade this film. I absolutely loathe the musical film genre, so I was never going to give this film a fighting chance. My 10-year-old liked it, though. Judging by his comments, I think his grade would be 8/10.
Or more accurately 'Jules, Jim and Catherine Too' as this is a ménage à trois (there's an Albert and Gilberte in the mix too).
*******
The Break-Up [2006]. Director: Peyton Reed
5/10
The one where Vince Vaughn splits up with Jennifer Aniston but we all know they still really love each other.
*******
Calling Dr. Death [1943]. Director Reginald LeBorg
5/10
Lon Chaney Jr.as a murder suspect who can't remember whether he killed his unfaithful wife or not. Viewers familiar with B movie plots would be way ahead of him.
Such a brilliant film that feels just as fresh as it did all those years ago. Marlon Brando is brilliant as he stands up to the corrupt union boss played by Lee J Cobb.
Of course it also has one of the most iconic lines in the history of cinema
Going The Distance - Insufferable romantic comedy with Justin Long and Drew Barrymore. Terribly cliched rom-coms can just about work when the leads are likeble or have chemistry but these two don't.
Somewhat unbelievable thriller with loads of plot holes and somewhat weak characterization, that spends too much time in buildup and doesnt develop the climax to its full potential, although I felt Abigail Breslin did as well as she could with some very dubious screenplay. Generously, I'd call it 'Ok' if you have nothing better to do.
Poltergeist (2015)
I had no expectations as Spielberg's original couldn't be replicated due to the characters, actors behind it and the story.
However gave it a chance and parts were enjoyable notably Sam Rockwell and Jared Harris characters. Effects obviously an improvement on the original but it just didn't have the same, excuse the pun, soul as Spielberg's film. That said Raimi could have done a lot better and set it elsewhere making it a film in its own right.
Comments
A little bizarre in some points but a fun ride (no pun intended) and a good ending.

Richard Widmark as a pickpocket who steals a film wanted by Communist agents.
Superb acting and photography but i feel the film is let down by the ending.
Movie of the myth of a Japanese girl who thinks the Fargo treasure is real. Good.
8/10

Generic, cliched, predictable, crap.

I'd give it 5/10
I was expecting great things. Instead I got the film that would never end.
Several times I thought that was it and I had endured it all but it kept on going.
Never have I seen a film where the swearing was so jarring and never have I seen a film where if every character died, I couldn't give a toss.
and tonight was Sinister ( which i get confused with Insidious film lol)...again loved the ending
