Great thread! I was just thinking about this. I remember Windows XP being state of the art Every man and his dog appeared to be using it 10 years ago.
Yeah I miss XP tbh and Office 97-98 lol we were using them in the office up to I got made redundant in 07, lol glad I did an advanced ecdl last year...the ribbon..the ribbon was not needed :-)
I spent my teen years waiting for porn to download over dial up
That must have been torturous. Even waiting for websites to appear on the screen with a dial-up connection was painfully frustrating. I was so glad when even the 512K connection from BT was available to the public. I pity anyone who still has to use that terrible thing for surfing websites. I think if it is still used, it'll only be used for email though.

I used XP and Office 2003 til 2010 when I moved to Mac. We skipped Vista as it's rubbish. I woudn't use XP now but I'm kinda nostalgic for it as I spent my teen years using it
I am currently sitting here in bed, posting this on a nice little light tablet that uses wi-fi
to connect to the web. In 2001, it would have to have been a relatively bulky laptop, with an extension lead, easy to trip over, trailing in here from the phone socket on the landing.

I wiped Vista off my laptop and replaced it with XP. Hated Vista. The laptop I have now runs Windows 7.
The launch of X Factor, and how we got so fed up of it being Xmas number one every year, we got Rage Against the machine to number one instead. Here DS posters predict how it will be shortly before the launch. (I didn't know Mel B was in the original lineup of judges, as you will see from reply 3 / 4 she got dropped in favor of Sharon Osbourne) http://forums.digitalspy.co.uk/showthread.php?t=121121

I went into my old Sainsbury's where I used to work whilst I was studying at Sixth Form. In this particular store if you enter from round the back you can see the canteen. It has not changed at all since I left. Anyway, towards the back is the designated smoking room. Yesterday the lights were turned out and it looked like you could not even enter it, so I have no idea what that particular room is used for now?

I'm currently living in the Philippines and our internet connection speed is around 50-100 kbps... it's a bit tortuous, but once you get used to it - it works okay. Just don't expect Buzzfeed articles to load in the first 2 or 3 minutes of waiting..
I'd do anything for 512k internet right now.. I will definitely appreciate my 60mbps home broadband when I return next year!
I wiped Vista off my laptop and replaced it with XP. Hated Vista. The laptop I have now runs Windows 7.
I think a lot of people did that Windows 7 has gotta be one of the best OSes Microsoft has done. It's flawless for a Microsoft product Remember Windows 7 launch parties?

Big Brother was at its best during this period 2000 - 2009. Pete who had tourettes, Bombscares and secret rooms in Big Brother 4, and Nadia in Big Brother 5.
1 - When you had to put up with this to use the Internet.
2 - The graphics of the Nintendo GameCube and PS2 being considered state of the art.
3 - Manchester City would consider finishing 4th to be a dream rather than a nightmare.
Another thing I remember - when a picture or story went viral (never videos as they took too long to load) they were circulated by email rather than social networking!

No smartphones and no camera phones until the second half of the decade-ish.
Most of the others have already been said.
I think there was a bigger changes between 1990 and 2002 than there was between 2003 to today.
